Sly_Vans 02-20-06, 03:26 PM	In 3.0 Damagereduction 10 / +1 meant, that physical damage was reduced by 10 if the weapon hand no magical improvement. Now that we play 3.5 we have a Warlock in our Team, which has Damagereduction 2 / Cold Iron. He has the oppinion, that Damage like the Odem of a Dragon, Firedamage and even Magic Missile is reduced, is he correct?

If the spell summons forth a force/energy like effect (Spiritual Weapon, Flame Blade), it is not blocked by normal damage reduction. If the spell summons forth a weapon (Dagger's Of Vaul) which isn't force/energy based, it is indeed damage reduction influenced (unless the spell descriptor says otherwise).
Despana 02-20-06, 04:18 PM	No, only physical damage is affected by DR. Energy damage, anything caused by a spell (even if the damage type is a physical type like the bludgeoning from an ice storm) are completely unaffected.

I'd treat the bludgeon damage from an ice storm as a Magical, Bludgeoning physical attack (hence a Zombie would take reduced damage from it). However, I can see it either way. For the other part, I agree 100% (non-physical, elemental, force, etc).
