I could have sworn this was talked about somewhere either on the boards or by the Sage. I have a player that wants to use multiple everdancing (or dancing) swords as well as his own hand held weapons at the same time.

Is there any sort of official rule on this? (as in a way I can prevent him from getting a buttload of attacks.)

No, that's perfectly legal.

It's very stupid, though.

Think about it. He would use a standard action to loose his weapon. The next round, it gets a full attack. Next round, he does the same thing, and then the round after that, he takes a full attack.

So in three rounds, he got four full attacks. That is far from spectacular, and, at the cost of a dancing weapon, that is downright laughable. The money he would have to spend to get all those would not be worth it. The sword uses only his Base Attack Bonus and its own enhancement modifier, so it would lose out on all his feats, and even strength bonuses to attack and damage.

Really, he would only be hurting himself by doing that.

Now, assuming he had multiple everdancing swords, then his little plan might have some merit. Assuming you allow him to walk everywhere with these swords out, then he can spend two move actions to direct the swords to attack. This would be a pretty decent technique.

However, at the cost of a +9 [epic]weapon, it still is not worth it, since you have to be a very high level to be throwing money around like that. At that level, wizards trump him with intensified, split, twinned energy drains 4 times a round.

Go ahead and let him do it; you'll find it won't be game breaking at all. Just keep in mind that dancing weapons only get BAB and weapon enhancement to attack and damage, and that the weapons are a standard action to activate.

Ah very good. I would also say Quick Draw wouldn't help as he is activating the weapons special ability, not just drawing the weapon out.

Entirely correct.

Wow, that was a fast response to my response. ;)
