Dastana bracers (Arms and Equipment) give 1 armor bonus to AC that stack with chainshirt armor bonus. Therefore you could use chainshirt (AC4) and dastana bracers (AC1) to get total armor bonus of 5 to AC.

With craft magic Arms and Armor feat you could upgrade these non-magical armors to magical ones (if they are masterwork). My question is that would the armor bonuses still stack if they are magically enchanted, for example if you had chainshirt +1 with dastana bracers +1 would you get total armor bonus of 7 to AC? Why I'm asking is that normally you can get armor bonus only from one source of armor...

Enhancement bonuses to ac overlap, they don't stack.. I'd say the same applies for Dastana and Chainshirts.
The best you could get away with is a +1 MW Dastana, at least in my games. I love modular armor, but mixing that with normal DnD is a bad idea, and there are too many potential abuses.

I believe the answer is one of the following:
A) Yes they stack, but the dastana takes up the bracer slot on the wearer.
B) No, they don't stack. Only the higher enhancement bonus would be effective.

I'm inclined to go with B. In that case you could probably just add other magical abilities to the dastana and still benefit from them, such as arrow catching or light fortification.

There is a reason Arms & Equipment is 3.0 and that there is a Item Compendium now.

That reason is, that Arms & Equipment was probably one of the worst books ever developed by WotC. Simply don't use it anymore...

Any rule abusing you see in this part of the forum is because of things in Arms & Equipment. Simply don't touch it, even if you were a ten foot pole.

And completely following the rules.. does it give 1 AC and does it increase the AC of a chainshirt to 5, or does is specifically say that it stacks with normal armor bonusses? If it is the first, they will not stack. If it is the second, they do.. also their enhancements. Because the sources stack.

The exact wording is, "This pair of metal bracers can be worn in addition to some other types of armor to provide an additional armor bonus that stacks with both the foundation armor and any shield worn. You can wear dastana with padded, leather, or chain shirt armor. You need the Armor Proficiency (light) feat to wear dastana without penalty."

But I agree with Devlonir, it's best not to use it.

It does give armor bonus of AC1 that stacks with armor bonus of some specific armor types (which chainshirt is one of)... I would also think that enchantment bonuses wont stack since enchanted dastana bracer would be quite powerfull in use with enchanted chanshirt...

Well it stacks, it doesnt add. If it would add, it would make the AC of the Chainshirt 5 and couldn't be enchanted seperately.

But, seeing how it stacks, you can enchant it seperately and it's armor bonus will stack with the armor bonus of the chainshirt. Seeing how enhancement bonusses enhance the armor bonus of the item and all those armor bonusses stack.

And because Arms & Equipment guide has a lot of those things that can be abused because of stupid wording, I say.. don't use it altogether!

Thanks for replies. The bottom line seems to be that dont use dastana bracers at all.
