Your_Majesty 12-28-05, 10:45 AM	Is it possible to weild a weapon and still use your bite attack. Or a combination of weapons/claws/bite ect. I seem to have run out of luck looking for rules on this. If anyone could tell me where to find them that would be much appreciated. As well what options are available magic/feat wise to get the most out of bite and claw attacks as well as the dragon disciple in general?
Morotis 12-28-05, 11:05 AM	you can use any combination of a weapon, claw, or bite assuming you have a high enough BaB. Say you have a BaB of +11/+6/+1, and you have a longsword in your right hand and claws and bite. You could make 1 sword attack, 1 bite and 1 claw, or 2 sword attacks, 1 bite, 2 claws (drop the sword) and a bite, or any random combination of the 3 you feel like. Just remember that any off-handed attack uses 1/2 your strenght bonus and all attacks made with a secondary natural weapon (bite) take a -5 penalty to attack rolls. As for feats, You could get multi-attack for you bite. (so it only takes a -2, instead of -5) I really don't have any other suggestions for you after those...
Khael 12-28-05, 11:35 AM	It is almost always possible to bite in addition to whatever other weapon you pick. But using a bite in addition causes a -5 to the bite attacks as they counts as a secondary weapon. Bite and claw attack feats now...too many to list, but i'd suggest looking in the MM for the basic monster feats there. Improved natural attack, i think it is which allows you to deal damage for a specific natural attack at a size one higher (so a medium bite counts as a large bite). Also the multi-attack feat is always good if you have a number of natural attacks e.g. 2 claws and a bite. You could also try taking levels in the PrC kensai (complete warrior) and imbue your claws with enchancements.
rutrow424 12-28-05, 11:48 AM	Morotis is not entirely correct per the SRD. Dragon Disciple treats the bite as a primary attack, and its claws as secondary attacks (this is the opposite of the Half-Dragon template). You take a -5 penalty with your secondary attacks even if you use them instead of the primary. Per the SRD, you do not receive iterative attacks from a high BAB with natural attacks, so in a given round you can bite/claw/claw if you are weaponless. If you decide to use a weapon (generally the best choice), you can get your normal attacks per your BAB with the weapon, and combine that with a bite - the bite gets treated as a secondary weapon in all respects (penalty to hit and lower STR damage). If you use a one-handed weapon and want to claw/bite in addition, the rules to me are unclear, but I would allow the weapon plus 2 secondary attacks (a 2H weapon/bite combo is likely more effective anyway) - but I can see indivdual DMs ruling differently.

So if i took multiattack, and choose to weild a greatsword I would use my normal bab for the greatsword and an additional bite with a -2 penalty from my greatest attack bonus. Therefore would the greatsword still have x1.5 str bonus and bite x.5 str?
Khael 12-28-05, 01:32 PM	Since your using a greatsword as am two-handed weapon and a bite as a natural attack that secondary to the greatsword, yes, you use those str bonuses
