Alright so deadeye shot states that "the critical multiplier for any specific type of thrown weapon increases by one when this ability is used. The benefit of this ability does not stack with any other effect that increases critical multiplier."

My question is does this only increase the thrown critical multiplier for the weapon or would it also increase the critical multiplier for its use in melee??

Agreed, it's only while thrown.

Note that this combines rather well with the Throw Anything feat. A thrown rapier gets 18-20/x3 crits, which is pretty darn decent.

All the thrown weapon tricks from MT are limited to thrown weapons that the MT has weapon focus in. Only a DM that has an extremely generous reading of the ability would grant you the extra damage multiplier for melee attacks. The ability's name is "thrown weapon tricks" afterall and associated with the Master Thrower PrC.
