| fanman79104-07-07, 01:55 PM | Is there a defense against an antimagic field? I'm a wizard and I'm pretty much screwed because I can't think of anything. Will the spell "wish" work? I know summons will work, but I need something stronger. There is also a feat that a cleric has that allows magic to be cast in an anti-magic field, but I can't use it because I am a wizard. Do you guys have any ideas? |
| Maraxus04-07-07, 01:59 PM | Summons don't work :D Gate works. Flying away from it usually works. |
| Aniona_Amakiir04-07-07, 02:59 PM | Pretty sure that all prismatic spells ignore anti-magic fields. Hope it helps. |

If the enveloping AMS is being generated around another MU (10'R emanation), then both of you are on equal footing, spellcasting-wise. Take him to the mat. If you're concerend with affecting a target in an AMS, then consider attacking indirectly. Destroy the beams or whatever overhead and drop the ceiling on him. Telekineses a rock or available halfling at him. (AMS doesn't negate momentum or squealing halflings ;) ). Arrows, quarrels and slingstones work too. To paraphrase an old homily - "You got to think outside the sphere" |

| Maraxus04-07-07, 03:54 PM | Use the Gate spell to call in a monster that will kill the one in the AMF for you. |
| LazarusWizardforhire04-07-07, 06:50 PM | 1.) An antimagic field can simply be dealt with creative thinking. If you can cast wish, you're probably in an epic campaign, so the antimagic field hurts your enemies almost as much as it hurts you. more so, since they plan on staying in the antimagic field, taking away their magic + manuverability, when all it does is force you to think outside the box. 2.) Retreat. As a party magic user you can do little against an epic monster. 3.) Use your magic to destroy the room you're in, or the ground beneath you. 4.) Let psions and party tanks take out the threat. |

Go open your Player's Handbook and look up some of this stuff these nice people are suggesting. Or you could look here: http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/spells.htm Try looking under P for Prismatic, and G for Gate. |
