| frogczar03-14-06, 09:12 AM | One the new "fastplay" 7th level human fighter featured on a link from the main page, there is a +1 "Deflection" modifier to AC on the character sheet. What is giving this modifier? The character has: +1 Half Plate for 8 AC +1 Heavy Wooden Shield for 3 AC -the armor negates his Dex bonus of plus 1 Thus his AC should be 21, not 22? Yet there is this mystery "deflection" bonus of +1 under the line for his Armor Class. He has the "Dodge" Feat, but I thought that was something that changed every fight and was not recorded under AC on one's character sheet. Any ideas? |
| Need_A_Life03-14-06, 09:17 AM | Ring of Protection +1? Incoporeal (probably not, but it is possible)? Class features (some prestige class)? Try asking him, if he can't remember, strike it 'til he can |
| frogczar03-14-06, 10:29 AM | No, all of his other gear is stuff like a bedroll, waterskin, supplies, etc. The only thing I can think of is that its supposed to represent his "Dodge" feat? but that applies to a single monster's attacks. Confusing. I'm also curious why there is a "deflection" box on the AC line at all? |
| Puca03-14-06, 10:48 AM | Deflection is a type of bonus to AC, just like armor, shield, natural armor, etc. are types of bonuses. It applies to your flat-footed AC and to your touch AC. Generally, it comes from magical effects. Rings of Protection are a common example as is the Protection from Evil spell. Edit: Sorry. I think I misread your post. Im sure you knew all that. Its probably just a typo. |
| Raven11303-14-06, 10:54 AM | He has a Ring of Protection +1. Page 3 under "Worn Magic Items" edit: The dodge feat is a conditional modifier, so it isn't represented on that sheet (other versions of character sheets have a space for conditional modifiers) edit, the redux: np, good luck |
