Let's say that the PCs are on some sort of flying conveyance. Something bad happens and the conveyance crashes to the ground, falling 120 feet.
What happens to all the gear that the PCs are carrying? I've seen the section on damage to magic items in the DMG, but I'm not sure about how to determine what happens to mundane equipment....
Help?
thanx

1) In real life, falling is not that powerfull. Terminal velocity for a human being is only 120 mph. Things survive a crash at 120 mph with just a minimum of luck

2) Officially, any object on the person survives, takes no damage what so ever. Consider it a cushioning effect. Attended objects are pretty much immune, unless an effect specifies what happens when they are affected.

3) Officailly, any free floating object, would follow the standard rules, 1d6 for every 10 ft after the first. That comes to a nasty 11d6 taken by each unattended object. Expect lots of pieces.

Well, next time I want to get my collection of Zilargan teacups down a mountain, I'll know to tie them to the barbarian and shove him off an appropriate cliff.
