| mvincent04-13-07, 01:12 PM | Hey all, Aside from a Wand of Detect Evil (which would probably cost 750gp and would be a bit steep for our low-level party), are there any magic items that allow the wearer to Detect Evil or otherwise discover malicious intent?From the Intelligent Item (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/intelligentItems.htm) Greater Powers table "Item can detect (opposing alignment) at will +7,200 gp" There is also the rod of Enemy Detection (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rods.htm#enemyDetection): "This device pulses in the wielder’s hand and points in the direction of any creature or creatures hostile to the bearer of the device (nearest ones first). These creatures can be invisible, ethereal, hidden, disguised, or in plain sight. Detection range is 60 feet. If the bearer of the rod concentrates for a full round, the rod pinpoints the location of the nearest enemy and indicates how many enemies are within range. The rod can be used three times each day, each use lasting up to 10 minutes. Activating the rod is a standard action. Moderate divination; CL 10th; Craft Rod, true seeing; Price 23,500 gp." Really though: if 750 gp is too steep for your party, you could just hire a 1st level Paladin instead (actually: if 750 gp is too steep for your party, you'll probably want to instead convince the Paladin that you are on a noble quest so that he does it for free). |
| RainerNader04-13-07, 04:14 PM | I should say that 750gp isn't necessarily too steep, but I think most of the party would end up feeling it's a disproportionate amount of our total funds. But it's looking like it may still be the most cost-effective option we have... -Nate |
