2 questions about dex penalties and AC:

1) do dex penalties lower your AC? (i assume that they do, but if they dont the next question is irrelivent)

2) if you have a negative dex modifier, and you are caught flat-footed, does your AC go up?

thanks in advance

yes and yes.

If you're a clumsy Oaf (with a -2 to Dex) you take a negative two to your AC from that all the time... if you're flat footed... you still take the negative 2... kinda sucks, don't it?

lol yes it does suck, and that is what i thought originally, but my friends think that when you are flat-footed your dex penalty shoudl not apply, and your AC would go up... o.O.... my pally sure caused a few laughs...

thanks for the quick responce

When flat-footed, you lose your Dex bonus to AC. Penalties stay.

Think of it as moving slowly and predictably. Being flat-footed doesn't make you move faster.

Though, since someone that clumsy wouldn't be trying to defend against someone, they wouldn't think to do anything and wouldn't be falling over themselves, right?

yes and yes.
Umm... shouldn't it be yes to #1 and no to #2?
