I know, I know... I've been reading too much R.A. Salvatore... but I could've sworn that I read about the "vampiric" enchantment somewhere in some official supplement or other... and yet for the life of me I certainly can't find it in any of my supplements. Am I experiencing delusions? Is there no official enchantment used to regain hit point with each successful attack? Or something like that?

Neverwinter Nights 2 has a Vampiric Regeneration weapon special ability.

Vampiric was also in Unapproachable East.

In 3.0 there are several such items. The major one is Wrathfull Healing.

Wrathfull Healing, however (like many of the official vampiric enchantments) has high abuse potential. You boost up your damage to extremely high levels via special abilities and prestige classes, and then use a relatively low level weapon enchantment to get huge amounts of healing on TOP of the huge amount of damage. Viscous is one of several enchantments that make this really obnoxious.

The simplest thing to do is the following:

Vampiric weapon: Cost +1. Each attack with this weapon heals the wielder of 1d6, but you can not be healed more than the amount of damage you did.

Special: This enchantment may be taken multiple times, it's effect stacks. Note, your total amount healed may never exceed the total damage done.

As Flaming etc. are all +1 = 1d6, this is clearly a fair feat, and does not suffer from the abusive potential of the 3.0 feats.

there is a vimpiric weapon wnchantment i read of somewhere (sorry i cant help out too much now - im at a library in another state than my books) that had an effect (on criticals maby?) that had a save against, but if the target failed the save, it would heal you (i think) 1d6 hp. I am sorry i cant be more specific, but I KNOW that it is out there, so keep up the serarch if tour gm wont allow the wrathful healing one.

The offical vampiric enchantment is pretty weak. It's a +2 enchantment that does 1d4 and heals the same amount with a fort save DC 16 to ignore the effect. basically...utter crap.

As for 1d6 vampiric effect for a +1...thats TOO good. You heal, it's an untyped damage so it is in no way even remotely similar in powerlevel to flaming/frost/etc.

Look at that second one again. He said nothing about dealing an extra 1d6 damage, his only heals 1d6 damage/hit, and says it cannot heal more than the damage you actually do.
