| Luca106-22-06, 02:14 AM | Which method do you use in your group to divide up magical items at the end of an adventure? |
| IV06-22-06, 02:26 AM | Figure out who needs what based on there profession. The items that don't really fit to one class tend to be sold and the gold divvies between the party equally. |
| Dragonsblood06-22-06, 02:31 AM | Need before greed. If more than one person can use something equally, whoever has gotten the least so far gets it. Gold and other liquid assets are divided evenly, but everyone is expected to pitch in equal amounts for group gear such as cure wands. |
| AkaKageWarrior06-22-06, 03:28 AM | same as the 2 above. when we started playing (86 or so), we were young, greedy, and not wise enough, so we summed up market prices, divided equally, and everyone got an equal share. and sometimes was highly in debt because one took the magic ring etcpp. that's BS. though. need before greed is the way to go. or highest roll on d20 wins... ;) AKW |
| Asmodeous06-22-06, 04:06 AM | Roll initiative. :fight!: With luck you could catch the rest of the party flat footed. :) |
| Drodain06-22-06, 10:54 AM | we generally play off of who needs what, but there is one or two players at times who will burst out with 'i search the body' and just takes everything like a loser, or 'my kill my loot' i always try to give what is needed and then the excess sold and split up evenly |
| Sunrider06-22-06, 11:07 AM | How to divide magic items? With a two-handed adamantine axe and a Power Attacking barbarian, of course! Or Dispel Magic plus Shatter, although that generates a few too many pieces for my liking. Oh, you mean divide that way... |
| shruggar06-22-06, 11:52 AM | Use your Diplomacy, Craft(Writing), and Perform(Oratory) to have a long philisophical debate about whether the treasure is the real reward (as opposed to the adventure you just went through to find it), or even exists. The treasure goes to whoever decides they still want it when you're done :) Last game I decided I didnt really care about the treasure, since I had fun finding it. After everyone else had their pick of the items and the chest was empty, I took the chest. :D |
| the_great_mighty_nerd06-22-06, 12:19 PM | my group always had a "my kill my loot" policy so the wizard and fighter generally took everything, i fixed this by giving the rogue a lucrative infiltration quest, and the whole party a fight against undead during which the cleric scored 8 kills, after this all happened the fighter and wizard agreed to split the treasure evenly. |
| Luca106-22-06, 01:59 PM | We are more likely going to use the method that the highest roll chooses first. Then those who choose skip the next choosing round (so it's not convenient to choose items useless for your character). Goodbye |
| Quixotico06-22-06, 06:20 PM | Recently my group got ahold of a nice bow, and it turned out everyone but the sorceror wanted it. Well, the Barbarian and the Fighter decided they didn't need it more than the others, being mostly melee. The Ranger/Rogue already had more than her fair share of magical items, which left the Cleric and the Warmage, both ranged dudes. Each had a decent arguement, so I told them to roll their choice of Diplomacy or Intimidate, as they saw fit. I forget who won. Think it was the Warmage. |
| buddy403106-22-06, 06:36 PM | our group is quite fair on dividing up group treasure naturally, but that when that one item comes up that everyone wants we all roll a D%. whoever gets the highest number gets the item. |
| mvincent06-22-06, 07:30 PM | All items are "sold" for the standard 1/2 price and everyone given equal share. They can then "buy back" any of the items for the sale price. If two people want the same thing (which rarely happens), then another identical item is purchased (at full price) and the total cost is split (i.e. they would effectively each get the same item for 75% of the regular cost... or more if more than two PC's want the same item). |
