| Francius06-09-06, 06:46 PM | Some will address me to the feats board, but I'm posting this here since it can be catalogued under the 1on1 combat issues between the Fighter or Wizard versus the Cleric and thus becoming more of a "Combat board" thread. Just got the PHB II. Nice feats for upgrading the fighter and all,but I think Clerics still got the lion's share. Like as if giving them the Spontaneous Domain Casting feature wasn't sufficient enough to upgrade a class that really DIDN'T NEED TO, they went ahead and tossed in the Divine Justice feat... Great. Now a Cleric being hit by a Dragon's claws(or a Tarrasque for that matter) can revert the same amount of damage right back at the creature with his mace only and not even having to use his spells to attack him.Just revert the damage and save a spell.Easy. This game is becoming more and more Divine oriented.I know D&D it's just a game system reflecting its designers' preferences primarily, but in none fantasy world or novel or medieval fiction have I read that Clerics can surclass fighters in fighting(the real and only true combat specialists) and wizards in spellcasting(the ones drawing energy from the real essence of the world's core flame imbued in it by the very Creator Gods and not receiving them by just some powers who act like gods). I 'm really having enough now. I think I'll switch back to 2nd edition or change gaming system for my Forgotten Realms fantasy world, where arcanists rule the day and fighters always prevail in melee combat.Clerics are at their spot too,but not on top of it all. How does everybody else feel? |
| Shiikeras06-09-06, 07:40 PM | Just ignore those feats/rules. Problem solved. |
| __DnD4Life__06-09-06, 08:56 PM | You posted your own solution. Just go back to playing 2e and quit whining. |
| DarknessEternal06-10-06, 01:33 AM | If you think a Cleric can outfight a Fighter, you must have missed the rest of PHB2. |
| Francius06-10-06, 08:45 AM | You posted your own solution. Just go back to playing 2e and quit whining. In case you misread,I asked what everybody's opinion was about the issue I raised. I don't recall asking for a solution from anybody. |
| Francius06-10-06, 08:50 AM | If you think a Cleric can outfight a Fighter, you must have missed the rest of PHB2. I haven't read it entirely yet (up to the feats chapter),but can you be more specific?Even after the PHB II, my eye still caught many threads complaining about how the Cleric class was still "broken". A buffed up cleric still has a great chance to overcome a greatsword/spiked chain wielding fighter. |
