Radijs 04-29-07, 02:59 PM	Creatures with a fly speed can preform a diving charge. Moving at least 30 feet and dropping 10 they can make a claw attack which deals double damage. Now if that flying creature has a rider, what happens when they both charge from that angle? Will only the mount do double damage or will the rider also deal extra damage?

tarkin 04-30-07, 04:15 PM	The rider is doing a normal charge, gets the standard +2 to hit. He is not doing a diving charge and can not double his damage.

There's a Rules of the Game article that got this one wrong. <http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rg/20040706a> Disregard it; follow Tarkin's interpretation. The RotG article says, "If a flyer makes a diving charge of at least 30 feet (6 squares) and also loses 10 feet of altitude or more, it can attack only with a claw or with a piercing or slashing weapon. These attacks, however, deal double damage." The actual rule says, "It can make only claw or talon attacks, but these deal double damage." I don't know why the RotG article tried to include P and S weapons.
