| Dragoloth02-17-07, 04:22 PM | First do the bane and dread enhancements stack? Second is a +10 dread giant bastardsword a +14 vs. giants? The dread enhancement dread causes a +5 dread giant bastardsword to become +9. Just wondering if this could bring the enhancement past +10. |
| El_Machinae02-17-07, 06:15 PM | It can easily bring it past +10 Enhancement bonuses don't stack, though. |
| Feroz02-17-07, 06:28 PM | It can easily bring it past +10 Enhancement bonuses don't stack, though. That doesn't particularly matter for this, though, dread and bane aren't enhancement bonuses in their own right, each improves the enhancement bonus by a set amount. |
| runestar02-17-07, 08:57 PM | In that vein, then they are enhancement bonuses to an existing bonus. I guess they wouldn't stack in this case...:P |
| RavenDrake02-18-07, 12:39 AM | Dread A dread weapon excels at attacking one type of creature. Against its designated foe, its effective enhancement bonus is +4 better than its normal enhancement bonus. Further, it deals +4d6 points of bonus damage against the foe, and if it scores a successful critical hit against the foe, that creature must make a Fortitude save (DC 27) or be destroyed instantly and turned to dust. (This even affects creatures immune to critical hits or death magic.) To randomly determine a dread weapon’s designated foe, roll on the following table. Caster Level: 22nd; Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Craft Epic Magic Arms and Armor, summon monster IX; Market Price: +7 bonus. Bane A bane weapon excels at attacking one type or subtype of creature. Against its designated foe, its effective enhancement bonus is +2 better than its normal enhancement bonus. It deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against the foe. Bows, crossbows, and slings so crafted bestow the bane quality upon their ammunition. To randomly determine a weapon’s designated foe, roll on the following table. Moderate conjuration; CL 8th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, summon monster I; Price +1 bonus. Bolded by me for emphasis. I would have to say that, no, thier increase in enhancement would not stack because it increases the weapon's normal enhancement bonus. If you were allowed to stack Bane and Dread then the increase in enhancement bonus would overlap, not stack. The damage dice increase would stack however, and a +10 Bane, Dread weapon would be +14 against it's designated foe and deal an additional +6d6 damage. At least by my interpretation. |
