Can any of you provide me with your ideas? How would you integrate the 4 races presented within the book into the Realms? Where and how would you place Shifters, Changelings, Kalashtar, and the Warforged? Any and all ideas are welcome. What do you think? |

Changelings could exist were larger groups of Doppelgangers live or lived. The Heartlands, Sword Coast and Calimshan are all viable places. Waterdeep as a criminal organizations, called the Unseen, who consist of Doppelgangers. Shifters could hail from the North, the Silver Marches, particularly the Moonwood. Anywhere, were werebeasts are reported. Warforged could be remnants of some forgotten empire like Netheril (yawn). I'd use Imaskar or Raumathar, though. They were renowned for their constructs. Another possibiliy would be Waterdeep again. Or rather Undermountain. One of Halaster's former apprentices is called the Metal Mage, who constantly build contructs, some of which have reached sentinence. Kalashtar are the hardest to place, because they are tied to the Plane of Dreams. It doesn't exist in the Realms as such. I could imagine them being an old race, maybe Jaamdathian in origin, like Elans. Some Jaamdathian mystics may have tried to bind alien entities to themselves to increase their power. That power would be spread among their offspring, who now, as a race, try to atone for practically enslaving their 'guests'. Becoming human again is not possible anymore, but if the entities are benevolent in nature, the Kalashater might try to do good deeds in their name. Then again, the spirits might be evil quori, and the Kalashtar have been corrupted by them. |

Or they might be made on Lantan by the devotees of Gond. Or they might be terracotta warriors of Kuo Meilan and Tempat Larang in Kara-Tur. |

I believe Changelings and Warforged will be part of the Core rules (at least that is the tentative plan), and therefore will be worked into the 4.0 canon at some point. That is based on 'stuff' I've heard, so don't quote me on it. ;) |

I'd probably put them in some Raumathari ruins or as a new Gondsmen prototype. Gond seems to have really grown affectionate for Lantan, so maybe he could give the artificers there a hint or two - and judging by what they had come up with in the F&P prestige class, they were quite close already. As for the Raumathari, they used a LOT of constructs in their wars with Narfell, so it's not out of the question that they reached a breakthrough or two around the end. |

But .. again ... all conjecture from reading things here and there. In general, it would be interesting to see how things are integrated. What I find interesting is that it almost seems easy to place the changelings and the shifters. Warforged get a little bit tougher but as seen, there are ideas. And yet, the Kalashtar is the hardest of all. Interesting. |

But .. again ... all conjecture from reading things here and there.Tieflings will be, from what I've heard. Gnomes will most likely make it into PH II. Since Tiefling were part of FR 'core', and there will be NO difference between Core and FR in 4.0 (at least thats the plan), it makes sense the the Tiefling makes into the core races. What I'm worried about with this new "core for all" shift in rules, does that mean we will see more then just races from Eberron crossing over? The rules are supposed cover all worlds, so it will be VERY interesting to see how they handle magic when it is so vastly different in EB and FR. Maybe they will turn the Thayan tatoos into 'Dragonmarks'. :P |
| eehamburg08-27-07, 09:37 AM | Maybe ... but then again, it can go both ways ... maybe the 'Harpers' will appear in Eberron. Or maybe FR races will appear in Eberron. We won't know anything until it all comes out. |
