What do you think the best elven sub-race is? I cant stand Sun Elves, I love the Drow. Let me know what you think.

With no doubts, crinties represents the high-nobility of this... most detestable race !
I really hate elves !
nevertheless, I play a crinti assassin... just to kill as many elves as possible !

I favor green elves. Their way of blending into their domains for millenia. Balance with magic, hunting and song. They are a bit dumber though but i never understood why. I dont think they should get a strength bonus either but alas.

Green elves dumber? Are you referring to Wild elves or Copper elves?

I would imagine there is no "Better" elven subrace.

Sun Elves are my first love.

Second, I like the Lythari, Avariels, and Wood Elves.

Then, the Aquatic Elves, Wild Elves (if we must separate the two), and Moon Elves.

Then Drow.

Then Star Elves.

I guess that sort of goes to prove why I dislike the character (very atypical Sun Elf hero, which serves as a foil to the rest of more standard Sun Elf culture). Ah well, carry on then!

Yeah sorry I mixed up the terms. Wood elves i.e. copper elves get my favor. They get +2 str, +2 dex, -2 int, -2 cha, -2 con.
Wild elves or green elves get +2 dex -2 int. Both copper and green elves are dumber. Drow are my second favorite. Avariel third, followed by Sunelves, Moon elves, Green elves, Aquatic elves and Star elves.
The few wood elf rangers Ive seen roleplayed ended up as one dimensional mechanical dreadnought like dual wielders because they get those extreme statmodifiers. Maybe it was because it was in a dreadful campaign i was in way back but this character was the only evil partymember and he ended up kiling everyone in the party for the loot. What a dreadful game that was...

Tautha De'Danan
Deathless

I just don't trust those Keeblers... them and their 'Hollow Trees'.... and anyhting ending in the suffix 'nesti'.

What the hell are 'Gold' and 'Moon' Elves'? ;) :D

My favorite type of elves would have to be the classics: Gold and Silver.
Also, Eilistraeen drow. :dancin:

Next would be Lythari, followed by Wood/Wild and Aquatic elves.

Lastly, the Avariels and (evil) drow.

And I'm not quite sure what to think of Star elves. Do they truly have "lightbulbs" around their heads? :ahem:

Didn't like the character either, but you already knew that. ;)

Still, you are using his avatar...;)

Anyway. It's hard for me to pick which sub-race I like best. I can say I probably like the star elves the least, if only because they seem like the "johnny-come-latelys" of FR elves.

Heya,

My favorite... hmm...

Moon Elves, I think. I'm very fond of Eilistraee and her Drow as well. I'm quite partial to Half Elves. Hmm... I don't mind Sun Elves when they're not being outright evil or just stupidly conservative to their own detriment (and they're supposed to be intelligent! sheesh!).

In general, I like elves. Which means the rest of the elven races sit at about the same level in my list, with none that I actually dislike.

As a side note...

Night Elves
Shadow Elves
Blood Elves

You have two WoW Elven races high in your list. :) Until the advent of Draenei, nearly all of my WoW characters were Night Elves - the only exceptions were my Paladin, Mage, and Warlock (for obvious reasons).

If only the Horde had less evil quests (the Horde is not supposed to be evil!)... Otherwise I'd be very happy playing a Blood Elf Hunter. But meh. (Blood Elves aren't all supposed to be evil either, and they have such a level of complexity to their society that many other WoW races lack - I just wish the Devs had allowed us, as players, to explore it more deeply. In any event, I hope they introduce Quel'dorei (High Elves) as an Alliance race at some point.)

Grasshopper elves
Sloppy joe elves
Vitamin water elves
Vin Diesel elves
Stuffed elves
Rice pudding elves
Manic panic elves
bong water elves
fly paper elves
and my favorite.... seeing the same thread a billion times in one week elves!

Although he wasn't very useful when the guild ran instances, then I had to use my Pally or Gnuke (Mage).

I guess thats why I'm torn about this new edition - it sounds like they're are making D&D more Internet-friendly, which any MORPGer knows is a good thing, and it adds a whole new level to socializing, although die-hards seem to think it has less social interaction. (thay must have never heard of ventrillo). ;)

Come to think of it, nearly half of my characters were Elves...

I left before the Blood Elves came out, though.

-No, no they do not. Isn't it amazing how one lousy illustration pretty much forever doomed the entire race? ;)

Two. Two lousy illustrations. If they'd just put it on the head of one or the other, most people would write it off. But both of them look like attenuated angler fish in UA, so people will always wonder.

I'm sick of everyone saying that Drow are the best elven subtype, a great deal of these people think that only because of mister Do'urden, let me tell you something, If Drizzt was a Sun Elf, everyone would like Sun Elves.

I'd dislike Drizzt even more actually. My disposition towards sun elves would remain the same: I don't have strong feelings one way or another for sun elves, or any elves.

Hey, leave the kender out of this.

I like Wood/wild elves the most (I choose to ignore the copper/green distinction) for they best represent the natural cycle, and the bounty and beauty (with a notable level of danger, I might add) of the primordeal forests that elves love so much.

Next would be Sun Elves, being the most mysterious and magical of the Quessir, and a perfect counterpoint to the incredibly mystical and natural wood elves. Their pride is well deserved, and it angers and upsets me to see so many writers abuse the stereotype that the golds are a bunch of elf-supremacists that sneer at all-things not sun elf.

I have a deep-seeded desire to learn about the aquatic elves, and their martial bent, as well as the history in relation to the crown wars.

Then Drow, who, I find in a similar vein as the sun elves, in that they take much pride in their work and see anything inferior to their standards as insulting to the entire species. I also find them incredibly over-rated and am tired of the assumption that evil=cool (finding myself opposed to all the things most consider "evil," as subjective as that might be).

Moon elves I find are a little too generic as far as elves go. They have little unique about them, other than they are more open and outgoing to other races. They're magical (but not so much as the sun elves) and kinda in touch with nature (but not so much as the wood elves), so they really are kinda like the 3.5 bard, which means they can do lots of stuff, poorly. I will lump star elves in here too, since they happen to be the exact same people in personality, culture and society.

I really don't carry any interest on the other races of elves, too be honest.

Avariel are moon elves with wings, and the lythari haven't been properly described by any writer, so meh.
