I am only able to find this in the 3.0 Monsters of Faerun, first of all. Second of all, i think these guys are weak and could be more powerful. Any suggestions?

(weird sitenote: when I read about Broodguards I am reminded of those masked animalistic people from the old movie The Beastmaster that the antagonist mind-wipes and has around as guards. no?)

You could design a prestige class that enhances the abilities of the broodguard.

prestige class for a monster? too much work. i'm just looking at some nice abilities they should gain, like how the tainted ones gain some good things, but the broodguards feel...left out. I know they kind of "get the shaft" since they are basically failed tainted ones, but I'd like to think maybe they could get an improved rage or *something*

It's called giving them classes, I don't see why a human who has to fail his/her saving throws a number of times to become a broodgaurd should somehow wind up more powerful when the whole purpose of transformation is to be a servant. Why would Yuan-ti make a slave powerful, especially one they forced the transformation upon probably 90% of the time in the first place.

Well you touched on a good point actually. Nowhere in the description does it mention how yuan-ti mentally control or dominate tainted ones or broodguards. That is what i have always assumed was the trade off here, they are actually transforming a human (who usually has ethical control over their actions) into slaves to the evil agendas of the yuan-ti. But there aren't any mechanisms for this mentioned in the text. The whole thing seems a bit flawed truly.

I love the yuan-ti, they are great basis for evil campaign focal points, or just great endless throngs of bad guys you can always point a finger at in the realms, that *aren't* drow (not that i have anything against drow). I own SK, and even in there there are few details about these altered humans they've created as slaves.
