| Lachdanan04-13-07, 10:57 AM | Hi! I'm writing here to ask you about the "Flay Foe" feat in the "Champions of Ruin" manual of Forgotten. On page 19, in the short description of the feat, there is: "Subsequent attacks deal +1d6 slashing damage". In the long description of it, on page 20, there is: "If you hit the same enemy more than once in a single round with a slashing melee weapon, you deal an extra point of damage with each hit after the first". I'd like to know which is the correct version of this feat... Thank you! Paolo. |
| Dielzen04-13-07, 11:11 AM | No official errata, but the common assumption is that it's 1d6, as with the other similar feats for the other 2 weapon types. Also, another note of intrest is that the benefits of this feat are on a per-weapon basis, so if you dual-wield, you have to hit once with THAT weapon before you get bonus damage on extra hits with THAT weapon, then figure the other weapon seperately. |
| Armedes04-13-07, 11:13 AM | Because of the descriptions of Pulverize Foe (bludg) and Skewer Foe (Piercing) I'd go with the 1d6.. |
| Karsus the Mad04-13-07, 11:19 AM | I think it goes something like "Primary sources override secondary sources when it comes to crunchy stuff contradicting, thus the actual feat description overrides any tables." so it's only 1 point. |
| Armedes04-13-07, 11:22 AM | I think it goes something like "Primary sources override secondary sources when it comes to crunchy stuff contradicting, thus the actual feat description overrides any tables." so it's only 1 point. Normally this is the case but with 2 other feats listing the 1d6 and the only diff being the type of damage I think its safe to say it is just a misprint. |
| The_Shaman04-13-07, 12:18 PM | Interesting, would you think that with a double scimitar each of the heads counts separately or you might as well go a-slashing? |
| Dielzen04-13-07, 02:13 PM | I personally would say that each head is different, in keeping with the spirit/intent of the feat. |
| The_Shaman04-14-07, 07:56 AM | It depends what the intent was. Perhaps they meant it to say that you capitalize on the wounds you've given already and go for painful and exposed areas? In that way it would mean every attack after the first. |
| Lachdanan04-14-07, 08:36 AM | Thank you all for the many answers! So, as I've understood, there isn't an "ufficial" version of the feat... I should let my master decide as apply it? (if 1d6 or 1 point of damage) I play a character who fights with two weapons, so I'm interested also in understanding if the extra damage, whatever it is, works only on the weapon that hits the enemy, or also on the other weapon... :P In my opinion, this damage should apply on both the weapons: the character is "specialized" in fighting with slashing weapons and can deal more damage, if he hits more times in a round... Bye Paolo. P.S.: forgive me if there are mistakes in my english.... :P |
| The_Shaman04-14-07, 09:08 PM | Well, since iirc Skewer and Pulverize do 1d6 bonus damage with piercing and bludgeoning weapons, it's only natural that flay does so with slashing. |
