| danisheraser05-25-07, 05:06 PM | Hi all. Decided to make a cleric of Tempus in a new campaign starting soon. However, I haven't made many clerics in my "D&D career" ;), so I thought I would come here and ask for a piece of advice. We use 32 point buy and I have put my stats as follows: Str: 14 Dex: 10 Con: 14 (might go 12 in con and put 2 more in dex instead) Int: 10 Wis: 16 Cha: 14 (There are some really nice turning feats, and I am allowed to pick the divine feats from CW) I am allowed to use all forgotten realms books (except Ancient Empires), PHB, PHB2, DMG and Complete adventurer (also divine feats from CW). First I thought about going cleric all the way to 20, but since the campaign goes to lvl 30 there could be other alternatives. I have tried to find a prestige class which suits, but none seems very Tempus-like. Any advice here would be welcomed. Feats: I have been allowed to pick a greatsword if I chose War domain, instead of battleaxe, as favored weapon of Tempus. Therefore I thought that I would go a bit melee/tank spec. So Power attack could be a choice worth taking. Again, any advice here would be welcomed. Thanks in advance. |

| Fabius Maximus05-25-07, 05:45 PM | The Warpriest PrC doesn't fit? |
| danisheraser05-25-07, 05:46 PM | No, he is not allowing Complete divine for several reasons. Besides Warpriest, is really a waste considering you give away 5! caster levels for nearly...Nothing. |
| Siridar05-25-07, 05:57 PM | there's the battle priest of tempus in one of the dragon magazines i'm not sure on the # but i'm sure someone knows |
| Duagloth05-25-07, 08:27 PM | Hmm. Aligmnet: any Neutral Chose Inflict spells as spontain casting, Prestige Hierophant: Reach incr. Harm at 60 ft. is just ... nice:) |
| Dielzen05-25-07, 08:56 PM | As mentioned earlier · “Faiths of Faerûn: Prayers of the Frostmaiden,” Dragon Magazine #312 (October 2003) · “Faiths of Faerûn: Elder Serpents of Set,” Dragon Magazine #313 (November 2003) · “Faiths of Faerûn: Battleguard of Tempus,” Dragon Magazine #317 (March 2004) · “Faiths of Faerûn: Arvoreen’s Keepers,” Dragon Magazine #321 (July 2004) · “Faiths of Faerûn: Deathstalkers of Bhaal,” Dragon Magazine #322 (August 2004) · “Faiths of Faerûn: Nether Hounds of Kiaransalee,” Dragon Magazine #322 (August 2004) |
| danisheraser05-26-07, 04:22 AM | Anyone have some suggestions for feats? The Battleguard of Tempus sounds interesting, but I haven't been able to find Dragon magazine 317 for download yet. |
| Fabius Maximus05-26-07, 05:29 AM | The Divine Feats from Complete Warrior may be useful. Besides: As far as I know, the Warpriest has a good BAB, so you're not sacrificing the spellcasting levels for nothing. It's like a fighter/cleric multiclass. |
| Steelwind05-26-07, 01:10 PM | Straight cleric is better than Warpriest and as for the BAB, 2 words, divine power. As for feats, it may be a little cheesy but go for divine metamagic (persistent spell), its completely legal so hopefully your DM shouldnt have a problem with it. ;) |

Fear can be a group killer so the ability (can nae remember what it is called) helps a lot. Have played a War Priest, and with the Practiced Spellcaster Feat, and very useful spell-like abilities I thought the loss of 5 caster levels was a perfectly fair trade. |
| Drew1369r05-28-07, 12:20 AM | Ahhh Tempus... my all time favorite god... he rules ALL... I had a cleric of tempus to level 26 first don't bother with Dex... you are going to want to where full plate when you get the chance. you want STR/CON/WIS since you are going to be a battle minded Cleric With that being said... you want war and strength for your domains. Also take the Heirphant prestige class when you hit level 20. you want the ranged touch special ability first and for most Now you are still a Cleric mind you so you want to keep said meat shield alive so go with the positive energy so you can heal. And just pray for the Harms and such. Another very very good PrC is the Divine Disciple the transendence ability can be very very handy when that stoopid wizard decides to cast charm person on the party cleric and the third domain is also handy I would suggest the Chaos domain. on your level ups put all points into Wisdom because as you gain levels you will probably be forgoing your attacks with the battle axe and using your spells... so make them harder to resist :) |
