| Salkyre06-30-07, 06:11 PM | There is a picture on the site that is called a fast trapper, does anyone know the details about them, I can't find it anywhere, and seeing as I don't have the complete scoundrel, I am kindof screwed... any help would be great!! Thanks in advance! Salkyre |
| BadCatMan06-30-07, 09:58 PM | Your link is screwy. The prestige class is the Combat Trapsmith, who is really good at making traps, and that can create non-magical imitations of spells. He can even do them in the middle of combat with some quick trap kits. It's MacGuyver. |
| Salkyre07-12-07, 10:30 AM | ok thanks, that sounds cool |
| Green Elven Vampire07-12-07, 10:59 AM | I highly suggest getting that book if you want to play a mischievous rogue type PC. It's the best of all the "Complete" books hands down!! |
| Salkyre07-12-07, 02:00 PM | Really? I will be sure to check it out, what is you favorite class (prestige or not) in it? |
| Red_Wizard07-12-07, 05:21 PM | I agree. Though it's great for all classes, not just rogues. 'Bout time we had a good one eh, WoTC? :P |
| MerrikCale07-12-07, 08:17 PM | I highly suggest getting that book if you want to play a mischievous rogue type PC. It's the best of all the "Complete" books hands down!! why? |
| Purple Dragon Knight07-12-07, 11:00 PM | I highly suggest getting that book if you want to play a mischievous rogue type PC. It's the best of all the "Complete" books hands down!! I think the best one so far has been the Complete Adventurer, hands down. |
| Green Elven Vampire07-12-07, 11:14 PM | Really? I will be sure to check it out, what is you favorite class (prestige or not) in it? There are several PrC's I like very much, but a few are Uncanny Trickster, Magical Trickster (which can be divine trickster), Battle Trickster and Fortune's Friend. But ALL the PrC's are wicked awesome. |
| Green Elven Vampire07-12-07, 11:16 PM | why? Why is it the best? The feats are amazing and they introduce Skill Tricks which are new and wicked!! It's a must. |
| MarkusTay6307-13-07, 02:28 PM | Aren't all of the Complete books core? This should be moved to D&D forums. Not being mean, just a suggestion. |
| MerrikCale07-13-07, 11:23 PM | Aren't all of the Complete books core? This should be moved to D&D forums. Not being mean, just a suggestion. OK, meanie Lets discuss the usefulness of this book for a FR campaign |
| Dark Wizard07-13-07, 11:30 PM | OK, meanie Lets discuss the usefulness of this book for a FR campaign Improved swashbuckling material; that's always very FR-like. Mmm, buckleswashing. |
| Green Elven Vampire07-14-07, 12:39 AM | And the great thing is this... it's not just for rogues or thieves, but for any class PC or NPC that has a streak for mischief, chaos and trickery. Elaith Craulnober should be re-written with a few of these new feats and skill tricks. Does anyone else own this book besides me? It's done wonders for my Rogue/ Cleric/ Uncanny Trickster/ Divine Trickster/ Divine Disciple of Erevan Ilesere. I've been looking for a book like this since 1ED!!! Now, if we could only get alot more info and history on Erevan Ilesere himself I could live a full life, lol. |
| MarkusTay6307-14-07, 03:40 AM | I just thought the OP would have gotten more/better responses on the Core forums, I wasn't trying to be mean. Sorry. :( |
| MerrikCale07-14-07, 09:34 AM | Improved swashbuckling material; that's always very FR-like. Mmm, buckleswashing. I don't have the book, so how does it improve the swashbuckler? |
| Purple Dragon Knight07-14-07, 07:08 PM | Merrik: lots of feats that allow you to stack rogue and swash or fighter and swash levels for certain effects (I think one of them allow you to stack rogue and swash levels for the purpose of computing total sneak attack and the grace ability... dhtbifom though...) And I will grant that to Green Vamp: it's not *my* favorite complete book (yet), but the skill tricks and luck feats are groundbreaking. Lots of good can be had from this book if you play a follower of Tymora, Beshaba, Mask, Brandobaris, Baravar Cloakshadow or Erevan... (with the luck feats alone). If you count the skill tricks, then this book is useful to ANYONE, especially if you play a *social* rogue or bard with lots of ranks in Bluff, Diplomacy, Sense Motive, etc. You can effectively make your PC so perceptive that some other player might ask you "did you take levels in psion [telepath]" or something? You can effectively emulate a perfect Sherlock Holmes (investigator type) or go the way of Kriss Angels (a guy who can read *anyone* just by listening to them, to the subtle inflection in their voice, mannerism... and effectively become banned to any poker table in the Realms! ;) ) |
| MerrikCale07-14-07, 08:03 PM | Thanks PDK, maybe I'll pick it up sometime. |
| Salkyre07-19-07, 12:19 PM | I just thought the OP would have gotten more/better responses on the Core forums, I wasn't trying to be mean. Sorry. :( well you were... gosh you even made me cry a little... lol |
| Chaos9007-25-07, 07:47 PM | OK, meanie Lets discuss the usefulness of this book for a FR campaign You can make a super luck type character with cleric(luck domain), auspician(faiths and pantheons), and fortune's friend, and take loads of luck feats. |

| Passivearmada07-31-07, 06:25 PM | I don't know, guys. I found the Complete Scoundrel very disappointing, but then again I had a Complete Rogue vision in my mind. I did like the hidden weapons thing, but none of the PrCs were to my interest. |

| Purple Dragon Knight08-04-07, 01:35 AM | Just finished reading it today, and I'm now completely converted/psyched to luck feats and skill tricks. The Uncanny Trickster PrC is just amazing. If you're purely melee, Battle Trickster is even better; and if you're purely spellcaster, Magical Trickster is wonderful. But since I like characters that hover in between (i.e. support characters), Uncanny Trickster is going to fit very nicely for a PC of mine... (gnome bard/lyric_thaumaturge/shadow_adept/shadowcraft_mage) Oh, and yeah... Fortune's Friend *IS* a marvelously devious PrC. I could see a high-level PC with that PrC reroll constantly (i.e. it's the "roll until you get it right" PrC... some DMs might be "annoyed" ;) ) So, overall, skill tricks are the reason one should have this book. Skill tricks cost skill points, and are worth about "half a feat" each... Luck feats are a close second in the reasons why one should own that book, but only because they are "feats" and therefore a PC is limited to just a few of those (which means it becomes very hard to choose which one to go for, or if one should go for one at all, especially if one's feats are precious due to future PrC prerequisites...) The third reason why someone should get this book is the Ambush feats (good for rogues and ninjas, and if you take a feat from that book, for scouts as well). |

It's my fave as well. Skill tricks can change a games outcome by the thread of a halflings hair. For better or worse, lol. Any follower of any Trickster/Rogue deity needs this book. A cleric of Erevan Ilesere with the Luck domain can take Fortune's friend and Magical Trickster and Uncanny Trickster and turn out one of the most fun, most versatile and most roll play PC's ever. Currently playing a Rogue/ Cleric/ Divine Disciple/ Uncanny Trickster/ Magical Trickster of Erevan Ilesere. as a NPC and I've never had so much fun. |
| Purple Dragon Knight08-04-07, 11:58 PM | That a cool class combo GEV! nice character! Which class features did you (or plan to) improve with your 2nd and 3rd level of Uncanny Trickster? (rogue/cleric? or mag.trick/div.disc?) To me, this is the singlemost utterly best aspect of Uncanny Trickster! It's a PrC that can improve other PrCs, which means in your case, you could take all levels of mag.trick. and div.disc. minus one each, and apply Unc.Trickster's level 2 and level 3 "improve class feature" option to these. This lets you improve your rogue and cleric levels by one each, or one of them by two (if you do the latter, this means you can improve your char. build by +1d6 sneak attack by choosing two rogue levels OR improve your max spell level by one and turn undead better by choosing two cleric levels). Example: say mag.trick. and div.disc. are PrCs with A and B level progression, respectively. Your original build was: Your build will be Rog X / Cleric Y / mag.trick A / div.disc. B / Uncanny Trickster 3 You can have instead, for the same total character level: i.) Rog (X+1) / Cleric (Y+1) / mag.trick (A-1) / div.disc. (B-1) / Uncanny Trickster 3; OR ii.) Rog (X+2) / Cleric Y / mag.trick (A-1) / div.disc. (B-1) / Uncanny Trickster 3; OR iii.) Rog X / Cleric (Y+2) / mag.trick (A-1) / div.disc. (B-1) / Uncanny Trickster 3 If you notice, ii.) and iii.) are superior choices... depends if you prefer rogue/stealth or cleric/divine spells... |
