Dragons and ECL [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-16-07, 04:09 PM I have the Draconomicon, Monster Manual and Savage Species, but what I can't seem to find is any ECL/LA for dragons over juvenile for say, an epic campaign. How do you go about calculating them?

05-16-07, 06:13 PM -Why not check the Epic Level Handbook? Mind you, I don't have the book, but it sounds like a likely place to have the information you want.

LA modifiers are not listed for any creature that isn't suitable to being a PC race (such as craetures with Int under 3). One item that meets this "unsuitable" criteria is if the Creature's ECL without class levels is 21 or higher.

You'll have to extrapolate based on the progressions listed in the SavSpec & Draconomicon as best as you can.

Your post had zero application to any game world, and as such belonged in the General forums. I still answered your question, but I directed you to the proper place to post. I go to different forums for different items, and seeing things in the wrong place gives me a headache. :P

05-18-07, 02:22 AM Moderation is usually rather light on these boards. It is simplest to just post again but on the appropriate section of these boards. The posters on the general boards, especially the ones pertaining to rules and related mechanics manipulations, are very good at them.

Dude, I wouldn't worry about this, honestly getting things on the right board isn't a big deal, sometimes you go to what you know and where you know you will get answers.

I think the issue is more that the Draconomicon really isn't set up for epic play. There are two things you can do; 1 look at the cohorts in the EPH, and see what level you can get them at; i.e. suppose you need a leadership score of 41, that means that your cohort can have a maximum ECL of 39; which means that if you can get a dragon of 32hd at level 41 that that dragon has a LA of +7.

The other thing you could do is just treat the max LA in the monster entry as applying to all other age classes, I think I read somthing about that somewhere, but I can't remember where.
