Do the drow bury their dead? Or all they all turned into mummies or driders or fed to the illithid neighbours

Drow die in a fight or as the result of an attempted murder, on Lolth's sacrificial altar, or of old age.
The latter are mummified and hung over the entrance of their houses, as a warning sign to those who lose Lolth's favor or they are simply sold to as fertilizers for mushroom farms. Their names are forgotten.
The former are used to prepare garments, tools, etc. from them. For example, their braincase is used as a ceremonial chalice to gather the blood of sacrifices.

Heya,

I think it would depend on the deity they worshipped, where they were exactly, and local customs.

I don't think there's a single simple answer.

-Zandilar, I was just about to mention that. Another variable to add to your list would also be status.

And since some practice cannibalism, they also make a tastey late-night snack. ;)

I'm not sure where I read it, but I don't think Drow go in much for 'death ceremonies'. I believe they just drag their dead outside their main caverns and let the local predators do the rest. In this way, they attract monsters to live in the surrounding territory of their caverns, giving them an added layer of protection.

And some of the those Drow might not be all-the-way dead yet. ;)

Eilistreanites may be an exception, though. They maybe do like what the elves of old do....

er.,.. how elves, traditional ones, dispose of the dead ones?

-Depends on the subrace. I wrote an essay on Elven death in Elves of Faerūn, if you care to check it out.

How did the pre-decent dark elves bury their ancestors of high status? (bait bait :) )

All know drow eat sun elf babies during the burial of prominent drow. Drow are utterly barbaric (which is why they legged it after we punished 'em).

Ah, yes. All the lesser subraces look the same to us.

-We don't know. Tombs, presumably. The tomb that Melagaunt and Vala broke into was a Vyshaanti tomb, so there is precident for tombs being used to bury the dead of high staus that long ago. The Vyshaanti weren't Ilythiiri, but still...

Sylvaroth is quite right. As far as I remember, the prominent drow are being burnt to ashes.
