Eltorion 07-15-07, 09:55 PM	On the Exile cover #2 of the legend of Drizzt what is the name of that creature uhhm... Ithalids or something i remember seeing it in the first book but i need more info on them, what are there powers i know they can read minds... please help me
Red_Wizard 07-15-07, 10:17 PM	Illithids can be found originally statted in the monster manual, and are later expanded upon as a species in the sourcebook "Lords of Madness". Their stats are not part of the open content offered out by wizards, so short of suggesting you pick up these books, or purchase their PDF's we can't help. Google is also your friend, and will tell you much more than we are allowed to here Searching the wizards site can find several interesting things concering the Illithid, one of which I will prove for you here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/tt/20050606a) This link on Wikipedia will also be of use, though I am loathe to offer it up for fear of breach the CoC Wiki Illithid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illithid) p.s. Old Sage 07-15-07, 10:45 PM	The definitive source for all-things-illithid remains Bruce R Cordell's The Illithiad (http://paizo.com/store/downloads/wizardsOfTheCoast/aDAndD2/rulebooks/monsterBooks/v5748btpy7mr3). I'd recommend this source *before* the "Illithid Chapter" detailed in Lord of Madness.

Faraer 07-16-07, 12:37 PM	Illithiad is a play on Iliad, pentad, etc. Anyone know exactly what that Greek suffix means? Funny we almost get to ten posts without anyone saying 'mind flayers'. 'Illithid' is their drow name, but Ed Greenwood used it a lot as a general term and that usage became common in D&D.

Faraer 07-17-07, 03:32 PM	D1-2 Descent into the Depths of the Earth p. 12: 'the dreaded "Illithids" of Drow speech'. I'd think this holds in the Realms too, but it's not certain.
