| Straploknight03-25-08, 03:14 PM | I'm finally getting around to updating some old 2e info of mine and in redoing some npc info I've decided to use the Favored Soul, but I'm baffeled by a few things? A. Can a Favored Soul turn/rebuke undead? B. Does a Favored Soul get domain spells? It wasn't implicitly spelled out in the class description, but it seems kind of odd that such a character so in tune with thier god would be hampered in both regards to a regular cleric. |

If you look for a decent cleric substitution, go for the Archivist class presented in Heroes of Horror (they are included in the free excerpt of that book on the main site). |

I noted that before, but even in the German version of that book, out only last year, this was not changed. I created a different version of the arachne a wee while back ... http://www.dnd-gate.de/gate3/page/index.php?id=372 ... though it still has the domain requirement. Coming to think of that and the usual study of the drow priestesses, you may try the Cloistered Cleric (Unearthed Arcana) at first, then switching quickly to the "Favored Soul", once she notices her special relation to Lolth. To keep the caster levels high (spell-wise), Practised Spellcaster is a good feat. Furthermore, depending on the character concept, Champions of Ruin and e.g. the Via Negativa feat make nasty additions. |
| Straploknight03-26-08, 09:32 AM | errata , yeah I'll check out the cloistered cleric in UA to meet the domain requirement, taking a level in cleric (replacing a level of aristocrat) in any event would dovetail nicely with using the class options in the new DotU, instead of command/rebuke undead, I could take command/rebuke vermin and yeah the via negativa replacing survivor would also work nicely. |
