The character is more of a nurturing type, and human...was thinking of going along the lines of Eldath and the peace/nurture aspect. |
| Dark Wizard07-20-07, 01:01 AM | Selune, very magical with an sorcerous natural talent vibe, nurturing too. Sune also, for similar reasons. Maybe Tymora, if you aim for a happy-go-lucky sort of approach to magic. |
| Valgard07-20-07, 04:38 AM | Choose Bahamut/Xymor and take the variant feature of the favored soul in Dragon Magic. It will be memorable. |

Well, the nurturing part means Shar is right out, I suppose - unless nurturing grudges counts. Most deities with a link to magic, such as Corellon, Sehanine, Garl Glittergold, and I suppose some of the Mulan deities like Isis could work. |
| HVulpes07-20-07, 11:23 AM | The fact of the matter is that while some gods encourage sorcerers and magic users more then others, there is likely at least a small numbers of arcanist in any gods worshippers. The fact is that it is likely the selection of spells and patron deity that will define alot of the character. For example, Chanutea (that is likely spelt wrong) is a Mother Earth goddess who natures crops of farmers. A Favoured Soul/Sorcerer of that goddess would likely have spells to heal, spells to aid animals and plants, summoning spells for celestial animals with links to civiliation like dogs and Buffulo. A cat familiar might be an excellent choice to eliminate threats to the crops on down time. A FS/S of Selune (A goddess known for nuturing orphans (CoV)), on the other hand, would likely have healing spells, spells for summoning Celestial, light spells and spells for naviagtion and travel. An owl familiar might be an excellent choice for a moon goddess (I think that some giant owls serve her as well). A FS/S of Tiamat, if you try making a villain, would likely have spells to control creatures, enhance and weaken dragons, summon dragons and have an elemental specialty like Fire or Frost (like most dragons). A Dragon Familiar would be most welcomed. If given time, I could come up with ideas for FS/S for Bane and Tyr. Those would be very rare, but possible. I think that you should worry about finding the right god for you first and then form the FS/S around that. You type of character might not be common, but nothing is impossible in a world of magical wishes. As for a nuturing deity, normally that is a good aligned deity as well as some neutrals. Evils usually rule by fear and domination. Edit:: For Eldath, I would select a water/cold specialty for seplls. Also spells and feats that do little permanent damage to the subject, like a Hold Person spell. I think there is a feat for making a spell do non-leathal damage, but if not why not create one if the DM allows it. For a Familiar, try something like a herbivore like a rat or mouse. Another choice is with the Improved Familiar feat and getting a small water elemental. A Unicorn or Satyr cohort if you have a Leadership feat could also help you out. If you choose another deity, I will try to help with that as well. |

| sleyvas07-20-07, 02:30 PM | If it were a possibility that the character were Mulan, then a Favored Soul/Sorceror of Isis would make a perfect nurturing type, being as she's goddess of love, marriage, agriculture, good magic, weather, and rivers. Given the tendency of the Mulhorandi gods to have direct connections to their worshippers (hey, they were the God-Kings), it would make a lot of sense that they would produce favored souls. Phillip aka Sleyvas |

Phillip aka Sleyvas hmm, Isis...I'd say great, but for her weapon....which is also the reason I'm shying away from Eldath, even tho I personally love Eldath. Selune does seem a tad appealing, however. |

| Borris07-21-07, 01:01 AM | How about Tamara, the NG draconic goddess of light, life, and mercy? With such as portfolio, she should certainly qualify as nurturing. Her favored weapon is the scimitar, which isn't bas at all. And while she's not a human deity, it's not uncommon for human sorcerers to pick draconic deities as their patrons, which might in turn convince the draconic deity in question to make the human worshipper his or her favored soul. |

Eldath seems like one of the most nurturing goddesses, though Chauntea, Hanali Celanil, and Ilmater are also very nurturing. |
