Cryto 06-17-07, 03:15 AM	Since developers announced that bard is the weakest class, half-elf the weakest race for CORE D&D :) I wanted to ask you, What do you think of worst race (of major ones) and class in FR setting? Also would like to see your favorite race, class and PrC. Thanks I for example like sun elf the most and cleric as class

Dimensional_Drifter 06-17-07, 07:54 PM	I'd say worst is half orc when it comes to race, I'm sort of leaning towards agreeing that bard is the worst, but since I like bard I'll agree with Lord Karsus and say Barbarian because I feel that rage isn't better than bonus feats for fighter, and I don't feel like sorting through all the bad PrCs. As for favorites (which isn't to say they are the best) Aquatic Elves, Rogue, and Arcane Trickster.

Passivearmada 06-17-07, 11:30 PM	Hmmm- halflings, half-elves, elves, dwarves, humans, gnomes are good. that leaves out orcs! fools! how can you even hope to survive with that intelliigence penalty?! mwahahaha! laugh with me! :evillaugh:evillaugh:evillaugh I looooove rogues, i like wizards/sorcerers, bards are weak, but nice roleplayers, monks have style and kick (most literally), and uh, let's see. barabrians SUCK! yeah theyre strong, but what about when the oen in ur group goes crazy and tries to kill you?! that's happened to me. i like assassin, archmage, arcane trickster, blackguard, i dunno what else. so- it comes down to- Race Elf, Half-Elf, or Human Class Rogue, Wizard, or Monk PrCArcane Trickster, Archmage, or Assassin i also like the occasional dwarven defender that collapses on the tavern floor with a mug of ale in his hand ;)

Passivearmada 06-18-07, 10:12 AM	Also- something ive never done but always wanted to do is create a rogue thats more intelligent than dextrous. he'd be less of a combatant and more of an acrobatic spy/decoy/scout. that's why i agree with Lord Karsus to an extent about the Sun Elves (the +2 Int), but they would be especially effective as wizards. one question for Lord Karsus. it seems obvious that you are a wizard in most campaigns, so are you usually an Evoker or a Transmuter, or an all-around or something? id like to know :)

You should never purposely handicap yourself. That's how I see it, anyway.

I'd say the best race is the sun elf, with wizard the best class (it just rocks). The best PrC.... probably the archmage. But my favourite build would be: Air Genasi Rogue/Wizard Arcane Trickster

But heres an interesting conumdrum, what if KtM had a different opinion on the matter. :thinks: Also Im gonna throw my 2 cents in for Sun Elf-Wizard-Incantatrix/Archmage OR Human-Cleric-Radient Servant of Lathander. As for the worst I would agree that Bards are definately the worst core class and how they went from being cool and useful like there 2ed counterparts to the craptastic version of 3ed I will never know. As for race I would say statistically speaking that the Half Elf is probably worst race (although its a close tie with the Half Orc), and as for PrC's theres way too many bad ones out there to name them all.

Tell that to an Abjurer 3/Master Specialist 10/Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 7. Although to be fair thats pretty much the only specialist build I would ever play, so for the most part I do agree with you LK.

Steelwind 06-21-07, 03:51 AM	I had an idea for an NPC a while back who was one of the major lorekeepers and information brokers for the harpers. His build was Diviner 5/Harper Mage 5/Loremaster 10. Though Fatespinner is a pretty neat class.

bitter thorn 06-21-07, 01:25 PM	If we are talking about favorite (as opposed to mechanically "best"), I'll go with: Race: Dwarves Class: Ranger PrC : This is a tough one. There are a number of PrCs that are very cool from a role playing perspective but are mechanically weak and vice versa. Morning lord of Lathander does both well, but I don't think I could call it my favorite. Least favorites, I'll go with Race: Drow Class: It's a toss up between a few of the new 20 level classes that I don't think add much to the game. Knight is the front runner for my least favorite in this group. PrC: too many bad ones to list

Walls 06-21-07, 09:02 PM	Wow, so favorites seem to be based almost soley on game mechanics. I have this idea for a half orc or some similar goblinoid orcish bard, but who uses drums and bagpipes. Maybe multiclass with barbarian (possible?) or fighter to make them sorta a bar brawling, Warhammer-esque character... WITH CHARACTER! Maybe a Hin Fist halfling? That'd be fun. But yeah, lemme get back to you on faves and least faves. Got to read a couple books still :)
