| Misery_The_Duelist05-05-07, 11:47 AM | Heya guys, I just got my copy of Drow of the Underdark in the mail and sure enough they included the very cool Arachnomancer first seen in Underdark. However, they butchered it to sin and back in my opinion, and I despise it. However, unless I'm mistaken Underdark was a 3.5 edition book and I was wondering how that works when one 3.5 edition book makes another of the same thing, what happens? Because the one is Forgotten Realms based and the other general, does the Forgotten Realms one still count as canon or has it been murdered into the ground by the new Arachnomancer. I know of course there are house rules and stuff to fix this, but as far as whats canon, do they both still exist or WHAT!?! Please help me out guys, this is bugging me to no end. |

| Khaelieth05-05-07, 01:51 PM | I'd say the player can pick, but he cannot pick both. |

| Dielzen05-06-07, 01:41 PM | If there's a 3.5 version of something in a FR book, it wins, otherwise a 3.5 non-FR source, then it goes back to 3.0 FR, then 3.0 non-FR |

The one thing I would change from the Underdark version was the required Base Fort save, as this would have either meant multi-classing or a pretty high wizard class level (12+). |
| The_Shaman05-07-07, 08:46 AM | Wasn't Underdark FR material, too? While I'm not sure there wasn't an Underdark in any of the other settings, I thought the Deep Imaskari a dead giveaway - while they were big on dimensional magic, I don't think their empire existed on any world but the Realms. The various cities and places mentioned were also afaik from the FR setting. Overall, I say use whichever you prefer. A caster class that loses casting levels is not likely to break your game. |

Aye, he's asking about an item introduced in Underdark (FR 3.5) and redone in Drow of the Underdark (Generic 3.5). My reply is the "official" way it's handled, as far as which is canon and which isn't. But there's nothing to say you can't do it different. (For instance, I use the FnP 3.0 version of Dweomerkeeper over the CDiv Web Enhancement 3.5 version, I just made a couple changes to make it 3.5e) |
