| Aaron Highcolor07-06-07, 10:53 PM | Where would be a good place to have goliaths from in the Realms? |
| Old Sage07-06-07, 11:09 PM | For a convenient basis, I would suggest you take a look at Erik Scott de Bie's Depths of Madness -- specifically Chapter 26. He establishes a small goliath village as a setting for a portion of the novel. |
| Steelwind07-07-07, 12:09 AM | Champions of Valor suggested the northern mountains of Anauroch or the mountains of Chult among other ideas. |

| Aaron Highcolor07-07-07, 10:53 AM | Thanks all! I found a reference about CoV when I googled it this morning (wasn't thinking last night!). And is the novel worth reading? I'm still reading the Last Mythal stuff (put it off to read the Cale Trilogy) |
| MerrikCale07-07-07, 03:34 PM | Thanks all! I found a reference about CoV when I googled it this morning (wasn't thinking last night!). And is the novel worth reading? I'm still reading the Last Mythal stuff (put it off to read the Cale Trilogy) We are not supposed to talk about novels on these boards. But, um, yeah you should get it. Not only does he introduce goliaths to the realms but warlocks as well. And frankly, I like them both. The main character Fox-by-Twilight (or something like that) has a neat name and is fun. Check out her first appearance in a short story in Realm of Elves. Worth reading as well. |
| Lord Karsus07-07-07, 08:24 PM | We are not supposed to talk about novels on these boards. -That rule has been lifted on a case-by-case basis. Personally, though, I don't like it. We've not not allowed to talk about 'em for so long I don't want to again. |
| Old Sage07-07-07, 08:42 PM | Check out her first appearance in a short story in Realm of Elves. Worth reading as well.Which is "The Greater Treasure" by Erik Scott de Bie. |
| MerrikCale07-07-07, 09:27 PM | Which is "The Greater Treasure" by Erik Scott de Bie. Thats the one thanks. And LK, I always thought the ban was ludicrous. I think it should be lifted in its entirety |
| Lord Karsus07-07-07, 09:41 PM | And LK, I always thought the ban was ludicrous. I think it should be lifted in its entirety -I did too, but I've grown so accustomed to reprimandaing people, telling people that "novel discussions are not allowed anymore", that I don't want to stop. |
| Dark Wizard07-07-07, 09:59 PM | -I did too, but I've grown so accustomed to reprimandaing people, telling people that "novel discussions are not allowed anymore", that I don't want to stop. You, sir, are drunk with power. |
| MerrikCale07-07-07, 10:46 PM | I just think you like reprimanding people |
| Lord Karsus07-07-07, 10:52 PM | I just think you like reprimanding people -It depends on the people being reprimanded. You, sir, are drunk with power. -True, but through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. |
| Old Sage07-07-07, 11:12 PM | So, should we start calling you Darth Karsus now? :P |
| MerrikCale07-07-07, 11:19 PM | So, should we start calling you Darth Karsus now? :P I'm thinking JarJar Karsus |
| Steelwind07-08-07, 03:21 AM | I'm thinking JarJar Karsus :rofl:  "Misa no thinks you should talks about novels" |
| Slayergnome07-08-07, 06:48 AM | "Misa a horrid character. Misa develop into senator...Misa Misa..." |
| Lord Karsus07-09-07, 10:49 AM | So, should we start calling you Darth Karsus now? :P :emp: (I just happened to be reading the new Darth Bane novel, that's all.):rofl:  "Misa no thinks you should talks about novels" -Misa no thinks yousa needin' t'talk about novels. Yousa call the wrath o't'WizO's. Terrible bombad powers, t'WizO's. Aeiii! |
| MarkusTay6307-09-07, 01:36 PM | We are allowed now, on a probationary basis, to DISCUSS novels, not blast authors or belittle anyone's talents. The same goes for artwork. It's just common sense - saying "I didn't really care for it" is one thing, indicating that said author "shouldn't quit his day-job" is EXTREMELY impolite, and there is no reason for that. If we discussed things like mature, civilized adults then there is NO NEED for moderators to step in. There is never any need to be insulting, no matter how much you dislike something. I've said this in the past - the boards I came here from got a new 'over-zealous' mod, and he started deleating entire threads that he didn't like. Suffice it to say it became very boring there after that - people were only allowed to say 'nice' things and had to agree with each other. Another example at the other end of the extreme - Over at GamesWorshop people used to bad mouth the company's products all the time - so much so that the company finally did away with their forums! We wouldn't want that to happen here, now would we? :( |
| Lord Karsus07-09-07, 08:03 PM | -They already took away our FR Novels section... |

| Ioulaum07-11-07, 08:48 PM | My memorie is a little hazy these days but what was worst? Novels vs Source Material or Novel/Author flaming? |
| Lord Karsus07-11-07, 09:11 PM | My memorie is a little hazy these days but what was worst? Novels vs Source Material or Novel/Author flaming? -The latter, though it was never, or still is never, too excessive. |
