has anyone used this in the realms, if so what did you do about the star metal. Where are some good places to have it placed to make the character work to get it.

I've thought about replacing starmetal with meteorites that fall from the tears of Selūne. It gives an origin for the starmetal that could be found on Faerūn, and also makes for a really weird variant for worshippers of Selūne.

Eric Boyd once suggested attaching the Green Star Adepts to the King Killer Star....

Perhaps it could be a dwarven thing, using a special, ultra-rare form of adamantine. It would probably need slightly different prequisite skills, though. Although I think there was something called starmetal, meteorite iron, or some such in the Realms. Does anyone remember the sculptor quest from Baldur's Gate II? They had quite a few exotic metals named there.

Interestingly enough I was considering allowing one of my players to persure starmetal for crafting purposes, but never had an oppertunity to present meteors in standard gameplay. Now my campaign is about to enter 1373 DR and I might drop one, a very small one, to peak the PC's interest and to see how they react to the one. That said, if your sticking to canon, take a look at this quote from Dragons of Faerūn, Excerpt 2 (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20060802b)

In the Year of Lightning Storms (1374 DR) Faerūn was beset by great lightning strikes the length and breadth of the continent. At least some of those lightning strikes marked the impact points of an unusual year-long rain of meteors.

Being attached to the Kingkiller Star also reinforces this; however, if these are the meteors that fall to Faerūn, some of these "meteors" are actually supposed to be dragon eggs, still peaking the PC's interest would further the plot. I only assume since the Kingkiller Star is no longer effecting dragonrage that it will fall to Faerūn, of course breaking up in the atmosphere.

Borris' idea though, it would make a really wierd variant for worshippers of Selūne. But it would offer interest to the prestiege class if you had an encounter with an NPC(Good or Evil).

My confusion is the term eldritch used in the class description, usually denoting something that is not only wierd but evil.
Now would a Green Star Adept be considered evil or just misunderstood? I mean misusing a blessing or "tears" of Selūne, goodly clerics and clerics of Selūne might view this as a mutation that should be eradicated.
Maybe your players might find a notebook or spellbook used by the Adept that contains the recipie for the "specially prepared starmetal infusion". Some of more flexable morals might consider keeping the notebook for themselves while others might return the notebook to the nearest Selūnite Temple.

Of course using the Green Star Adept as a variant for worshippers of Selūne, they still might be looked down upon because of their mutated appearance. (eh, maybe they aren't really evil just misunderstood)

Then again, as it states in the Green Star Adept description, you could adapt the class to just about any ridged metal or crystalline substance.
