| Artemel11-28-07, 06:43 PM | I am trying to put together a Favored soul of Tymora/Auspician and I cannot seem to find any PrC that grant extra domains or the luck domain before 10th level. I know that contemplative (CDiv) and Divine disicple (PgtF) work... but they don't grant a domain until 11th and 12th respectively. Anyone have any others that work earlier so I can get the entire Auspician in before Epic levels? Thanks much. Book: Pretty much everything. ^_^ |
| Dark Wizard11-28-07, 06:52 PM | Take a level of Cleric or Shaman (OA version). |
| Artemel11-28-07, 07:06 PM | I could, but that is less than optimal as it slows my spells in Favored soul... not to mention that if I was going with cleric I probably wouldn't touch favored soul. Sort of why I was asking for PrCs. Thanks though. |
| Stigger11-28-07, 07:16 PM | Can't think of anything offhand, but you might try to convince your DM to let your replace on of the energy resistance (for example) class features gained for FS with luck domain access instead... only thing that's really coming to mind. |
| Dark Wizard11-28-07, 08:45 PM | That's right, compared to cleric, favored soul is less than optimal, but you're going with it, so that comes with the obvious deficiencies. Stigger's suggestion is a good one, ask the DM for some help in this regard. Another route in a similar vein could be to create a feat to grant you a domain. |
| alzoron12-01-07, 10:06 AM | The version of Divine Disciple from the 3.0 Campaign Setting is structured a little differently and gives you the extra domain at the first level. Could at the very least use that as a starting point and work with your DM to smooth it out for 3.5 use. |
| Artemel12-01-07, 10:48 AM | I managed to find a suitable workaround. A Dragon magazine (310, 311 or so) had cleric variants in it. One, "Evangelist," is essentially a favored soul without a good reflex or all those special abilities. Instead it gets 2 domains at first and 1 new domain every 5 levels. So... I get to keep my spontaneous divine casting, lose my proficiency in shuriken (Tymora) and a weapon focus, and such. Hopefully that'll play out well. Thanks everyone. |
| The_Shaman12-01-07, 12:36 PM | I've always thought that FSs should get domain and have some of their spells known come from those domains. Give them 2 domains - possibly more at later levels - and take away 2 of their spells known/level, and it will imo work out. If anything, they should be even more tightly bound by their deity's portfolio in what spells they can cast. |

I think it might have even come out before the Favored soul. I never really did get the resistances, wings and other specials a Favored soul got. I mean... it was a spontaneous caster, not a PrC to turn your character into a half-celestial or half-fiend. |
| Praxian12-11-07, 12:50 PM | I'm glad you found a work-around - something else to look at, I would recommend the Dracolyte PrC in Draconomicon. Grants you the Glory or Domination domain (depending on whether your good or evil). |
| Lord Karsus12-11-07, 11:55 PM | -Hey, Praxian. Long time no see... |
| Praxian12-12-07, 07:44 AM | -Hey, Praxian. Long time no see... Hey Karsus! Good to be remembered. =) How ya been? =D |
| Lord Karsus12-12-07, 10:00 AM | Hey Karsus! Good to be remembered. =) How ya been? =D -I've been better. You have no clue why I remember, you, though, do you? |
| Praxian12-13-07, 09:56 AM | -I've been better. You have no clue why I remember, you, though, do you? Not off the top of my head - no. :( And hope things are going well for ya! |
| Karsus the Mad12-13-07, 03:16 PM | Not off the top of my head - no. :( And hope things are going well for ya! I think it was when you stole his rubber ducky. |
| Hanali-in-Love12-13-07, 06:06 PM | Divine disciple can be taken once you hit Cleric 7. |
| Lord Karsus12-13-07, 07:16 PM | I think it was when you stole his rubber ducky. -Close. Not a rubby ducky, though. |
| Karsus the Mad12-14-07, 11:22 AM | -Close. Not a rubby ducky, though. It wasn't? Then who stole your rubber ducky  I know that crime caused you some serious strain. Was it the stuffed teddy then? That one upset me greatly...I want our teddy back........ |
| The_Shaman12-15-07, 06:49 AM | Divine disciple can be taken once you hit Cleric 7. He's a Favored Soul, so knowledge (religion) isn't on his class list unless he takes educated or able learner. Why the hell FSs have Knowledge arcana but not religion, I'll be damned if I know. |
| Stigger12-15-07, 06:51 AM | Probably shouldn't, but never got errata'd out would be my guess... |
| Artemel12-15-07, 12:05 PM | I think the reasoning on the Knowledge (Arcana) v Knowledge (Religion) is the fact that Favored Souls have no formal training in their respective churches. So... they don't train to perform ceremonies, they don't Turn/Rebuke Undead, they are outside any hierarchy... why give them K(Rel)? ::shrugs:: |
| Stigger12-15-07, 03:59 PM | Good point now that you mention it. |

So... they don't train to perform ceremonies, they don't Turn/Rebuke Undead, they are outside any hierarchy... why give them K(Rel)? ::shrugs:: Same reasons sorceres have Knowledge (arcana) - they are likely to come across it in their own studies and experience. Rangers don't spend much time in libraries, but they have several knowledge skills on their list. Besides, it makes a whole lot more sense than having K: arcana. So favored souls, who get their powers from divine beings, care mora about dragons, golems and other magical beasts than the divine beings that give them those powers? A "modicum of common sense" fall under the definition of wisdom imo - and that stat they usually have a bit of. |
