| beenyboboo07-29-07, 03:58 AM | have a 14 level CE fighter he is 7'4 480lbs and god in battle if you know what i mean. his goal is to become the badest of the bad. i played him at low leve up to 10th as a week grunt/pit figher that work for someone and what just a tool to now a very power hungry brute all he wants to do is more power does't matter what the cost. i would like him to be like a lich. the DM i have is very smart and said if i can find a i can do it. so my question is, is there any way i can make my guy unto a undead ( ex: lich ) i cant do the vamipe thing beacue if i becane one them the master vampie would be in control. really need help thanks |
| natzero07-29-07, 09:28 PM | well as far as i know a lich is almost certainly a magic-user undead for the purpose of a pc generally liches tend to be ex divine and arcane casters i am not sure what the rules are for killing ones vampiric master and freeing oneself god i cant think of any other undead that list char adjustments for playing vampires, liches, perhaps a ghoul srry i couldnt be much help |
| Zevox07-29-07, 10:20 PM | Only spellcasters can become Liches. The rituals you need to go through require great arcane knowledge, and require the one becoming a Lich to self-craft his Phylactery. The template even specifies you must be a minimum of caster level 11 to become a Lich. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any undead templates designed for warriors that don't result in mindlessness or some curse or subservience or another. You might just be out of luck, or have to make up your own. Zevox |
| Mad Mage07-29-07, 10:34 PM | The only sentient undead melee templates that come to mind at the moment are the Swordwraith (Fiend Folio) and Death Knight (Monster Manual 2) templates. |

Or become a Curst if you can. Very cool template. |
| Suin Bahhar07-29-07, 11:39 PM | Curst from Monsters of Faerun retain their personalities and battleprowess but suffer from mental instability. One in ten curst retain their full intelligence but most revert to int 8. They are always CN, get spellresistance, undead traits, regeneration and turn immunity. These make excellent fighters 'cause they retain all feats they still qualify with an int of 8. |
| GothicDan07-30-07, 12:03 AM | And note that actually DESIRING to become an Undead creature is... Extremely rare, to put it mildly. |
| Dimensional_Drifter07-30-07, 05:48 PM | Anything in Libris Mortis that could help you? Don't have the book on hand to check. |
| godbeepit07-30-07, 05:55 PM | The Libris Mortis does indeed have a lot on this topic. It outlined several undead as monster classes such as the ghoul/ghast and wight. The problem with those of course being you can't just pick the class you would need exposure to such undead creatures. However, they certainly help in balancing your character out for his ECL. |
| Lord Karsus07-30-07, 06:17 PM | And note that actually DESIRING to become an Undead creature is... Extremely rare, to put it mildly. -Depends who you are. Keep in mind, also, that Baelnorn are technically Undead creatures, yet many aspired to one day become Baelnorn. |
| GothicDan07-30-07, 06:29 PM | Would you infer that Baelnorn aren't extremely rare? :) |
| Lord Karsus07-30-07, 06:38 PM | Would you infer that Baelnorn aren't extremely rare? :) -Depends on your definition of 'extremely rare'. :D |
| GothicDan07-30-07, 06:40 PM | *Fireball.* |
| Lord Karsus07-30-07, 06:43 PM | -Come now, Dan. Can't we resolve our disputes in a more meaningful manner? Throwing around Fireballs is so primitive. How about we both choose a different civilization, and then manipulate it. Whoever's society is more powerful in, say, 250 years wins. What say you? |
| GothicDan07-30-07, 07:46 PM | I already won. You just don't know it yet... |
| Green Elven Vampire07-30-07, 10:50 PM | Thank Erevan I'm such a cool, older D&D geek!!! |
| GothicDan07-30-07, 11:25 PM | ... Older and D&D geek aren't inherently very cool... |
| Lord Karsus07-31-07, 12:09 AM | I already won. You just don't know it yet... -I'll let you continue to believe that, for just a while longer... -And, concerning GEV, yeah, that kinda is an oxymoron. |
| Malanthius07-31-07, 12:53 AM | I've been wondering about this for sometime, what are the rules reguarding "leveling up" and level progression reguarding to Undead characters? Can undead even gain levels after their death? |
| Slayergnome07-31-07, 04:21 AM | i cant do the vamipe thing beacue if i becane one them the master vampie would be in control. really need help thanks Could alway somehow kill your master and take this template of a vampire that shows no signs of being vampiric, walks in the daylight, and have other neat little tricks. :) |
| killigann07-31-07, 09:37 AM | You could try looking at the 2nd Ed Ravenloft books. They have advancement and undead creatures. Of course you would have to update it to 3.5. |
| Diffan07-31-07, 12:26 PM | The death knight template is pretty cool, and I don't think you have to have any specific class levels, though most are paladin's gone bad to become Blackguards and then being cursed into undeath to gain the Death Knight template (Lord Soth anyone?). Might be something to look into. If your interesed and don't have the MM II, I can write down the specifics for you. |
| The_Wrath_of_Talos08-01-07, 03:23 PM | Look into the arms and equipment book. There is a cursed amulet in it that turns a charector into a vampire after a minimum of nine days. The amulet sinks into the users chest everyday they use the finger of death ability linked to it until it reaches their heart slaying them and turning them into a vampire. Otherwise a death knight would be a great template for your fighter. |
