| Lord Karsus01-24-08, 12:46 AM | -I'll be looking forward for all the lore. I like lore. -What does 'Shinsen Gumi' mean, anyway? |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus01-24-08, 12:58 AM | It was a group in 17 century (real)japan, hmmm... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinsengumi here, Iknow its wiki but its pretty acurate. The Gatoutsu was Saitō Hajime combat style |
| MarkusTay6301-24-08, 02:33 AM | Can't wait to see the fluff as well. I can definately use them in the Kozakura Rebellion period. :D |
| Lord Karsus01-24-08, 09:23 AM | -Cool. They're like an enforcer police like group. |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus01-24-08, 09:58 AM | So you don't think is over powered? |
| SmartPaladin01-24-08, 12:12 PM | The Shinsen-gumi? Weren't they in the anime Peacemaker Kurogane? Not bad show, though the southern-drawl Ninja's were a little weird... Anyway! Not bad class, granted I probably couldn't tell an overpowered class from an underpowered one... But then again... Ah well, so long as your DM would give it the okay, I see no reason why not. |
| Lord Karsus01-24-08, 12:34 PM | -Clean up the original post, as a few smileys have infiltrated it! :P -Anyway, one thing that immediatley comes to mind is: Why Bastard sword? Wouldn't Katana make more sense? |
| MarkusTay6301-24-08, 12:45 PM | Not THAT argument again... -Clean up the original post, as a few smileys have infiltrated it! :PThats too funny. :D |
| Lord Karsus01-24-08, 01:38 PM | Not THAT argument again... -Wasn't that Longsword and Katana? Thats too funny. :D -It happens. I can think of a couple of angry posts I've made that were diffused by accidental smileys like that. |
| The_Shaman01-24-08, 07:58 PM | The Shinsen-gumi? Weren't they in the anime Peacemaker Kurogane? Not bad show, though the southern-drawl Ninja's were a little weird... Anyway! They seem to have been quite popular, although this particular one seems solidly based on Rurouni Kenshin. Of course, just because one of their captains used a certain style doesn't mean they all did any more than all the Ishin Shishi need to adopt the Iaijutsu Master PrC. |

Kenshin was both awesome, and a idiot. The sad thing is, most of the dumb things that happed to him, I probably would have done. :P And I am so off topic now... |

Oh I know, I just liked that style. and this for MT63 Kara-Tur's project, it not like the Real Shinsengumi, it will have it's own "lore" but I just don't have time to post it now. It's amaizing in my line of work how much free time you have and in an instant you are overworked. |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus01-25-08, 01:39 PM | -Clean up the original post, as a few smileys have infiltrated it! :P:embarrass |
| Lord Karsus01-25-08, 02:33 PM | :embarrass -Hey, it happens. :P -Anyway, so, what kind of lore do you have for these guys? Methinks they'd be found in Wa, as Wa is the Japan rip-off. |
| MarkusTay6301-27-08, 01:03 AM | Kozakuro, not Wa. Wa has a strong Emperor - Kozakuro has a Shogunate; thats why these guys would fit better there. The lore I'm doing for that region has the Emperor (a little older, and a little wiser) re-take the reigns of power away from the Shogun, after a bloody civil war. The Emperor had to seek outside help, which is unfortunate, because now he is stuck with troops form other lands within his borders (to 'help' garrison the place), and is forced to open up Kozakuro to certain powers for trade. I know one of those will be Shou Lung, but I'm not sure about the others. Anyway, the old Shogun fled with the remainder of his army to one of the islands, and so far it's a stand-off. Enter the Kozakuran Rebellion Era. :D This PrC plugs right into that. |
| Lord Karsus01-27-08, 11:11 AM | I know one of those will be Shou Lung, but I'm not sure about the others. -How about T'u Lung? It would be ironic, to say the least, to have Shou and T'u Lung troops fighting side by side. Perhaps they try to keep tabs on each other, spying and whatnot. |
| The_Shaman01-27-08, 12:46 PM | It could be that these guys are the reason Wa has a strong emperor ;) Geez, I seriously need to find some good stuff on Kara-tur. Are there any good free sourcebooks among the old stuff on the WotC website? |
| Lord Karsus01-27-08, 12:52 PM | Are there any good free sourcebooks among the old stuff on the WotC website? -Something like 4 out of 6 of the Oriental Adventures adventures are availible. That's it, though. The main Oriental Adventures sourcebook isn't availible, and you've gotta buy that elsewhere. MT's Kara-Tur Re-Dux has plenty of useful information, though most of it has yet to be written, and is still inside his head. |

I talked to MT about this PrC before ii post it and I was waiting for all his stuff in his head to be writen so I could get a good base for the PrC lore, If MT have that whole Kozakuro place already on the K-T thread I can get started |
| MarkusTay6301-27-08, 03:57 PM | Not sure if I ever got into any detail - we basically just went over where we wanted the diffeent factions at, 15 years into the future (1375 DR). Shou assisted the Kozakuroa Emperor against his Shogun, with assissatance from either Koryo or Wa, or both. Have other plans for T'u Lung, so I don't want them involved, but Wa used to be enemies with Shou, so that scenario still works, LK. T'u Lung fell into a civil war, after the sudden death of its emperor. The Emperor's twin sons both tried to seize the throne, with many of the southern nobles supporting one son, while the traditional court has supported the other prince. The Ho clan of Ausa decided to remain neutral while the other four provinces went to war (with intentions of gaining their own independence, along with the Tan Clan of the Jo Chang). However, as the two armies met and did battle, Shou forces invaded the Joi Chang Penninsula with a huge fleet, and annexed the region for Shou Lung. Ho Bai Lee, worried about losing his own lands to the encroaching Shou, beseeched the two princes to stop their fighting long enough to repel the Shou from T'u Lung. So far, the Shou remain firmly entrenched in the occupied district, while Three Kingdoms of T'u Lung still bicker over who should be in charge of the offensive against the Shou. As long as T'u Lung remains devided, the Shou Emperor is willing to wait until war breaks out again amongst his enemies before making his next move. Meanwhile, in Chukei, the hero of the Tuigan war, General Batu has returned to his ancestral lands a revered hero. This shocked many of the people of the Imperial Court, because reports from the west indicated that he perished in the fighting against the Cormyrian-lead crusade army. He has become something of a folk-hero, and tales tell that he has been touched by the gods... because his eyes glow with a golden sheen. He has systematically consolidated his power over the last fifteen years, and finally made his ultimate intentions known to Shou Lung - last year, with the main part of the Shou army busy in the south fighting T'u Lung, and many of its defensive troops on loan to Kozakora, Batu declared Chukei the Kingdom of Chu 'ta Te. Then, as the Shou Emperor was still deciding what path to take in dealing with the rebellious province, envoys from the new Kingdom arrived in the Shou Capital, and offered a deal, allowing Chu 'ta Te to remain autonomous, but pay tribute to the empire, and protect its northern border. Since this deal cost The Emperor very little, and he stood to gain a lot (no longer needing to supply troops and administrators to the northern province), he graciously accepted this proposal. The Emperor has every intention of bringing Chukei back into the empire eventually, but he first must resolve the war in the south. Much has happened in western Kara-Tur as well, with the invasion of Ra-Khati (GHotR) and subsequent defeat of Tan Chin. The Shou are showing some interest in gaining the Katakoro Plateau as a new province, but at the current time do not have the martial forces to do so. Instead, they are sending caravans, priests, and 'advisors' to the west, to help 'assimilate' the locals into Shou without a fight. The nation of Tabot sees this 'charity' for what it really is, and has also been sending armies of Monks to build new Gompas in that region, and 'help' the folks of that land. This region will soon become one of much intrigue, as various powers try to gain a foothold. For more on this, see a future CK Compendium article due soon. ;) And that, my friends, is today's Kara-Tur in a nutshell. :D |

| MarkusTay6302-21-08, 02:59 AM | The only thing I've resolved since that post was that it was Shou Lung and Wa that entered into a secret agreement with the Kozakura Emperor (after all, them Emperors gots to stick together ;) ). I'm still trying to piece together the rather convoluted system of Government Kozakuro has, but the one thing I'm sure about is that at least one Shogun has survived the 'coupe' (or rather, un-coupe :P ), and now is holding out on one of the northern islands, with the remaider of his loyal Samurai. All other Samurai have been order to swear allegiance directly to the Emperor, or 'give up their sword'... which is why the country is in a "Rebellion Period" as of now. Most traditionalists are siding with the Shogun, but the Emperor has very strong foreign backing (including Thayan Bombards, brought in by the Shou!) |
