ok all im thinking at level 11 to attempt the prestige class of kensai

my char is a 7th level druid atm, with the shape shifting class ability from the PHBII

Now i can take all those kensai abilities on natural weapons, and improved predator form with imp crit and imp nat weapon might really make for a powerful and interesting build.

I have the lawful alignment down and am a follower of helm so i can find a cause to pledge to.

the campaign takes place during the time of troubles so im sure there can be a reason to have pledged, so as far as i know it is a very possible and interesting build that may work very well.

most good feats and prestige classes require me to have the wildshape ability which i gave up for shapeshifting ability so unless it still counts by default i really was in a bind for prestige classes enough to think of this.

ok what does every1 think?

ill check after work

most good feats and prestige classes require me to have the wildshape ability which i gave up for shapeshifting ability so unless it still counts by default i really was in a bind for prestige classes enough to think of this.I think there's no canon answer for this, but what I would do is to look at the requirement very carefully and what the feat or prestige class does.

As the shapeshift ability is usable at will, I would consider that it does not make you qualify for Wild feats, since those feats depend on your wild shape uses per day and that would unbalance the game. Anything similar to this (limited to your wild shape uses per day) should be treated as this.

If some feat or prestige class requires wild shape in the 'polymorph' sense, such as the Natural Spell feat or some prestige classes, I would count shapeshift as wild shape for purposes of prerequisite.

That's the idea. hope it helps.

ya that was the biggest issue with the new ability, it is a little sketchy with wild shape rules and prereqs.

but that aside wut u think of the odd idea for a druid / kensai?

it could effectively be very powerful.

having +10 magical bite attack or claw attack with imp nat weapon.

lots of crap rolling around up in my head atm, little bored ya know

I don't think there's any problem with a druid/kensai, as long as you meet the prerequisites... Let me remember you that there's a sidebar in Complete Warrior specifically commenting that the pledge is some kind of 'limitation' for this powerful prestige class. It's more about the roleplaying rather than game statistics, similar to the paladin, that has very powerful abilities but not every player may have the qualities to play one.
