I was wondering what type of monks these guys where. They seemed to be human but they could travel in the shadows just like Erevis Cale and they were never seen in the daylight. I have heard of the shadar-kai just a little bit so I thought that these monks might be like them in some way if they are not completely human.

They are Shadowdancers. And only go out at night. ;)

They were not Shadowdancers, they were Shadow Walkers.

A wicked difference!! Shadowdancers are a PrC class, and Shadow Walker is a template along the lines of a Shade.

You could be a Shadowdancer with the Shadow Walker template.

Shadow Walker is basically a weaker version of a Shade.

I wasn't aware of that template. But these guys could be either, or both. We'll never know...

-Shadow Walking Shadowdancers. Seems a little redundant to me. Sounds about right, though.

Shadowdancing Shadowwalkers from Shade practicing Shadow Magic useing the Shadoweave while worshipping Shar.

Try saying that 3 times fast. :P

As an aside, I thought Shadowbred was something made by the Shadowbakers of Shade.

-Words like, "Oh, Karsus, what a guy you are! If I were a woman, I'd ask you to father my child. But, since I am not, I'll just say that you are incredibly amazing, and that I'll swear fealty to you". Something like that? ;)

It says in the book plainly that the Monks are Shadow Walkers, not Shadowdancers.

Well, a shadowdancer could call himself a Shadow Walker.

I'm not saying the monks are shadowdancers (I honestly don't know what they are), just saying that characters in novels are called all types of things. For example, a lot of characters are "fighters" by the game rules, but they don't walk around in the world calling themselves "fighters". A lot of rogues don't call themselves "rogues".

-Enter Fox-at-Twlight. She calls herself all kind of wacky things, some of which might not be true.

If a woman ever told me that was her name, I would be defeated right then and there.

I'd be too busy rolling on the floor laughing with tears in my eyes...

-What if she was Indian, as in the Native American kind?
