| Mad Mage03-06-07, 02:01 AM | Not sure where else to stick this, so I decided here, mostly since the area of usage for this thread involves a Forgotten Realms product. Okay, so I'm using as many new & old resources as possible to help bring the Baldur's Gate NPCs up to snuff by 3.5 terms. These kits in particular are giving issues. Note that if you see an "X" in class levels, that means I'm going for the maximum number of class levels available. 1) Stalker (Ranger kit). The closest I can come up with is either Ranger X/Rogue 1/Occult Slayer (CW) X or Scout (CompAdv) X/Occult Slayer X. The strange thing is, I checked the Stalker Kit from The Complete Ranger's Handbook, at it is NOTHING like the Stalker kit presented in Baldur's Gate 2. 2) Cavalier (Paladin kit). For this, all I can think is Paladin X/ Knight of the Silver Chalice (CW) 10. 3) Inquisitor (Paladin kit). Paladin 12/Church Inquisitor X sounds about right. 4) Swashbuckler (Rogue kit). I'm thinking Rogue/Duelist (DMG), honestly, with feats to compliment two-weapon fighting. 5) Bounty Hunter (Rogue kit). From the sound of its BG2 representation, I would just make it a vanilla rogue with skill points placed in Craft (Trapmaking). That's about all I can think of for now. |

Several of them are quite different. ;) 3) Inquisitor (Paladin kit). Paladin 12/Church Inquisitor X sounds about right. If you're thinking of Keldorn, the Justicar PrC might fit well (even though IIRC he worships Torm, not Tyr). 4) Swashbuckler (Rogue kit). I'm thinking Rogue/Duelist (DMG), honestly, with feats to compliment two-weapon fighting. The swashbuckler core class from CW might work in ethos, though in mechanics I think you're possibly closer... 5) Bounty Hunter (Rogue kit). From the sound of its BG2 representation, I would just make it a vanilla rogue with skill points placed in Craft (Trapmaking). IIRC there is a bounty hunter-esque PrC in Complete Adventurer, and I think I read there's a trapsmith in Dungeonscape too? Don't have that book, yet. |

If you're thinking of Keldorn, the Justicar PrC might fit well (even though IIRC he worships Torm, not Tyr). Yes, definitely thinking of Keldorn. I might even consider the Triadic Knight (from Champions of Valor), but overall, it seems as if Church Inquisitor fits the kit's flavor the best. The swashbuckler core class from CW might work in ethos, though in mechanics I think you're possibly closer... Yeah, I considered the Swashbuckler, for the longest time. IIRC there is a bounty hunter-esque PrC in Complete Adventurer, and I think I read there's a trapsmith in Dungeonscape too? Don't have that book, yet. I don't think the Bloodhound PrC fits the Bounty Hunter - let alone Yoshimo - pretty well. Yoshimo was a bit more subtle, and gaesed into the service of finding the protagonist and bringing them back into the clutches of Jon Irenicus. And no, I don't have Dungeonscape either, so this "Trapsmith" you speak of is new to me. |

Just a heads up, the Duelist would lose the extra d8's to damage if he were to fight with two weapons, he needs one hand to be empty and the other wielding a piercing weapon... yeah I know, the class sucks. |

Good thing you picked up on that. Hmmmm.... what PrC to go with, in that case? Tempest, maybe? :thinks: |
