Need some background inspiration :) [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-22-07, 09:52 AM I am making a new char, we are playing an epic level campaign where we are reaching for high power.

I am leaning towards a wizard/druid gestalt of some sort.

But what I am really in search for is a good backstory that could make it a believeable blend. I dont want it to become the usual tree-hugger that the other druids we usually have in our group becomes.

I am a sucker for the old kingdoms, especially netheril and such.

If anyone have some idea of a good backstory, please post it :)

You are descended from a long line of Conjurors and mages of Ancient Netheril. During the fall, your great ancestor was on the sands of Anauroch and thus survived Karsus' blunder. As his celestial and demonic servants and guards blinked out he felt the first feelings of true powerlessness. Thus, he turned to the sands for a way to survive. He became a nomad, comparable to the Nomads of Anauroch of today. He was driven by something to strive to, and he found it in nature. He became a druid, a watcher of the sands, a boon to all life found in that desolate region. Even after the weave was remade, he still relied heavily upon the magics of the natural world. While the arcane was lawful and controlled, this spirit inherent in nature was a more wild and flexible thing. Finding no others of his kind, he became a traveller, a Wizard of Natures Hand. Through loneliness he became stern and insightful into the true nature of survival, and after some time discovered that power was not solely granted to the priveliged mages of Netheril, but a thing that just needed the right force and will. He was both a guardian of nature and its warrior. He both summoned the creatures of Faerun and delivered them from others. And in this insight, he had power.

You are a descendant of this man, a product of a living philosophy that he created. You also desire the power of your ancestor, by natures grasp, or magics touch.
