In some Elven source material it lists that elves can in a sense feel each others emotions and such unless there is something catastrophically wrong.

My curiosity is in your games do you use this and how exstensive is it. What do you use for the game mechanics?

Thanks for the Feedback!

Are the elves you speak of very close or are they aquaintances/strangers.

I believe he is making reference to elves in general. There are several novels that make reference to an unspoken connection between elves (though whether this extends between sub-species as well is not clear), namely the "Return of the Archwizards" trilogy, and "The last Mythal" Trilogy.

As to in game effects, this has not been touched on to a point of giving defined rules for it's use. I would however treat it as a "Detect Emotions" within say 10-15 feet of another elf. Seems the simplest way to explain it away In game.

What the connection basicaly gives to elves is the power to "know" other elves even before they have met. This connection manifests before birth between mother and child. The unborn baby learns the language and culture of the elves thanks to this link wich becomes stronger during the first reveire.

The reveire is, to put in mundane expression, like when you open you antivirus software and you press the update button. In reveire, the elves commune with others (sometimes even half-elves or less, like Laeral Silverhand during her earlier years, can enter reveire, a few drow can also enter this state) like a massive chat, that is why two elves who never saw their faces know more about the other than two humans who have ben together for some months.

Red wizard hit the nail on the head. Those novels and some other material I have read mention this connection. Some have said the elves have to be fairly aquainted others say as long as they are a elf or in some cases half Elf they get this connection. I am curious how most work this into there game or do you do away with it alltogeather?

And thanks for bringing up reverie that is another one that has perplexed me game mechanics wise.

I can easily fit into the head of a Dwarf or Human but elves are a task for me to get into Idealogically etc.
