I know I've heard several times that elves and orcs can't procreate, but there was a half-elf/half-orc villain in a D&D novel I read in 1995 called Son of Dawn by Dixie Lee McKeone. The character was pretty darn cool. He was strong and savage like an orc, but was intelligent and graceful like an elf. He was a very dangerous opponent and led a monsterous horde.

I was wondering what would a half-orc/half-elf look like?
What would its abilities likely be?
Would a crossbreed of this type be accepted in either orc or elven society like typical half-human half-orcs are? I imagined they'd be outcast with both races.

I have a feeling this would be entirely possible, since both can breed with humans and Orcs can obviously breed with just about anything, but.....

Both races would kill such a child, more then likely, as an abomination. Or even MORE likely, kill the parents BEFORE the child is even born.

That being said, the character Arrayan in the novel Promise of the Witch King is a Half-Orc described as having Elf ancestry. She is also described as being "exoticaly beautiful", having features of both an Elven and Orcish mix. She set Entrerri's blood a boiling, so she must be pretty hot.

Read the novel, it was excellent.

She was also a half-way decent wizard, BTW, a profession you don't see too many Orcs taking up.

I read the book. I'm looking for a straight crossbreed though, not diluted.

I liked the book too. I liked the exploration of how "evil" characters are still "human" in that they have friends, want love etc. ...... Well maybe not Jarlaxle so much as Entreri.

From the description of the 1/2 orc 1/2 whatever female, I immediately thought of Rachel Ray from the Food Network.
Cute pug nosed kinda elfin face with an athletic curved bod...

I would simply use a half-orc like a template with +1 LA and apply it to an elf. Plus I would maybe drop both the Str bonus and the Con penalty. Would be quite wierd otherwise.

Half-orc/half-elf Traits (Ex): Half-orc/half-elves possess the following racial traits.

* (+2 Strength), +2 Dexterity, (–2 Constitution), -2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma.
* Medium size.
* An half-orc/half-elf ’s base land speed is 30 feet.
* Darkvision: Half-orc/half-elves can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
* Automatic Languages: Common, Elven, Orc. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Sylvan.
* Favored Class: Barbarian.

Last time when I read, I've thought of her as that chick from Corpse Bride...ANd I mean the HUMAN chick..not the undead one.

In my old homebrew campaign:
During the battle between Correllon & Gruumsh, the first elves formed from the blood spilt by Correllon while the first orcs formed from the blood spilt by Gruumsh. The first humans formed from where Correllon & Gruumsh's blood mixed. It explained why humans could crossbreed with either race. It was also symbolic of the heights and depths of behavior that humans could achieve.

Orc-Elf crossbreed is interesting idea. If Orc and human and elf and human can, why not elf and orc...

Throught this must be very, very rare and exotic. I think offspring would be shuned by both parents races.

As my sun elven cleric of Correllon says "the only good orc is a dead orc".
