Ok, a couple of my friends and I are doing a quick hack and slash gestalt campaign probably using the Realms setting. The character I made is a Moon elf fighter-wizard 1 with the stats of Str 12, Dex 17, Con 12, Int 16, Wis 12, Cha 8 (his Cha low because he's self absorbed and extreamly haughty with the other PC's). My question is what do I prestige class him into. I'm going to fight with two swords and take the feat Somatic Weaponary (which allows me to use my weapons for somatic components) but other than that, I'm not sure. The one requirement we have for our gestalt campaign is that we can't prestige class until you have at least 10 level in your gestalt class. So any ideas? Thanks!

Do not take any prestige class :) Advance as a raw fighter/wizard gestalt.

Theres lots of options here, dont forget the only one PrC at a time rule though. But for suggestions, Abjurent Champion, Spellsword, Bladesinger(too feat heavy though). Or if you wanted to go a differnt route you could just take all 10 lvls of Incantatrix with fighter on the other side to keep your BAB and HP's up. That would go Fighter 20//Wizard10/Incatatrix10, that gets you +20BAB, 20d10 HP, 20th lvl arcane caster with some groovy abilities and Lots o' Feats.

What 'only one PrC at a time' rule? I've never run across that one before. Certainly wasn't anything in the DMG or PHB that I noticed.

Yea, same here. I was just told by my one friend that I can simultaneously (sp?) level up with 2 prestige classes at the same time as I would the base classes. Because if I do that, I was thinking about going fighter 10/wizard 10/tempest 5/swiftblade 10/abjurant champion 5. Let me know what's going on!!? :)

Not sure why you'd look in DMG, PHB or any other book than UA for rules on Gestalt PrC combinations, since no other book acknowledes their existence, much less provides rules.

Look at the final bullet point in Class Features on pg 73 of UA.

Ah... never bothered picking up UA, never got all that interested in it.

Yes, it says that you can't have two prestige classes going on at once *sigh*. Though I might just throw out that rule, I mean I'm already doing a number of things that aren't within the regular rules, but it might become a bit unbalanced, unless I make the monsters that much harder to kill and what-not. Thanks for your in-put. Though, any suggestions on the idea I had of the swiftblade/abjurant champ/tempest?

It seems like Fighter/Abjurant Champion might be pretty nasty. You'd get the spell progression (and handy special abilities) of the Champion, all while still raking in the bonus feats from Fighter. A final character tally of Fighter 20/Wizard 15/Abjurant Champion would make for a pretty nasty guy, I'd think.

A hybrid class like AC is quite good if the DM allows it (wasn't there something about taking hybrids in gestalt?), since it frees your other side of the progression. Say, a fighter/wizard can take abjurant champion on the fighter side and thief for the wizard side (since they're already getting their caster level), and then could juggle taking a level of EKnight and a level of wizard to offset the EK's spellcasting level loss at level 1.

It was a prestige class that was offered on the WotC website. Here's the link: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20070327

We changed the requirements for our gestalt campaign so now we can prestige class after 5 levels of your base gestalt classes. I'm thinking that after twenty levels, it might look something like this: Fighter 11/ Wizard 14/ Tempest 5/ Swiftblade 10.

The Abjurant champion is a good PrC class too, so I'm not ruling it out and there are alot of other builds you guys have mentioned that I'm really considering, Thanks! Any suggestions about feats and/or Spells to select as my levels progress?

Ftr 11? That's a rather interesting place to stop, given that you don't gain anything from it.

I'd suggest, in any Gestalt build, picking up Mnk2 or Rog2 for Evasion (or pick up both and take the Spell Turning alternate class feature option for one and take evasion for the other)..especially in any build that plans to be in the thick of combat.

It's not so much as that I stopped at fighter 11, but that I had started out with 5 lvls of fighter and wizard to prestige class into the swiftblade. The swiftblade has 4 levels that don't add to your spellcasting class so at those levels I added the wizard levels and the other 6 levels I added the fighter for the better HD and Fort saves. I could take 5 in each of my base class to gain that extra feat at wizard 15.

Not a bad idea, though I should've mentioned in my earlier posts that our DM decided to set an XP penalty of 20% if we multiclass outside our original gestalt classes. So I'd rather not take that route, but the suggestion was appreciated! :)

I'm not 100% on what rules options you have available, but here's some suggestions --

Complete Mage Fighter option -- light armored caster, then take the feat from CArc that allows you to take higher-levels of armor types to cast without ASF
Complete Scoundrel (maybe?) - Somatic Weaponry - no issues with spellcasting and weapons in hand
If you're going with Tempest, Look into Dervish (CWar) as they synergize extremely well

Also another possible option is to drop out Ftr and take Ranger instead and gain the FE bonuses, as well as free TWF feats, so you don't have to worry about your Dex much. (Dwarf STR-based TWF, say Daxe/Haxe combo) is pretty dangerous, then once you hit the Scim = light weapon beny of the Dervish, change to dual scims...better feat useage when you use 1 weapon)

What you can also try is to get a PRC with full spellcasting and BAB like the Abjurant Champion or Eldricht knight and use the other class for skillpoints (rogue).
