question about archmage prc [Archive] - Wizards Community

If an archmage possesses the mastery of elements special ability, can they use that ability to affect spell trigger items such as a staff or wand (i.e. have a wand of lighting bolt produce cold damage instead of electrical)?

-No, that ability only applies to spells that they cast. Now, if the Archmage created one of those items, with the spells he used to do so already modified? I'd rule a yes here.

The deathstaff artifact in the Shining South is a prime example of that!

It has all the elements as a fireball (acid,sonic etc...) The shining south is a good book dealing with Halruaa and all... just a good read as well if you want!!!
