AND PLEASE, NO ARGUMENTS OVER FAMOUS NPCs OF ANY KIND. Once again, I am incensed to restat a famed NPC to what I see fitting. According to his entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jarlaxle) in Wikipedia, Jarlaxle is a Chaotic Neutral Swashbuckler 15/Rogue 5. Sounds suitable. Eytan Bernstein's Class Chronicles article on the Swashbuckler (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/frcc/20070613) class seems to pretty much confirm him having Swashbuckler levels: The members of Bregan D'aerthe include several swashbucklers, not the least of which is their extravagant leader Jarlaxle. One thing, besides the 2nd Edition Villain's Lorebook and the bare snippit in Underdark (which, by the mention of him with Fighter levels may pretty much make that obsolete), are there any other sources - preferedly 3.X on this guy? In addition, are there stats anywhere for a diatryma? You know, that thing which Jarlaxle has a feather of in his hat that - as shown in at least one novel - can summon said creature to help him? :help: |

| Mad Mage07-18-07, 03:26 AM | FRCS has him at level 20 fighter. Any other sources you can think of? |
| Zanan07-18-07, 03:37 AM | Any other sources you can think of? The FRCS has him as a Ftr 17 and as far as I am aware of (and after doing and updating my Drow NPC list of the Realms regularly - I AM aware of most game lore on FR drow), nothing about him with regards to rules and stats has been published. Do note that a straight swashbuckler would fill all the demands he would have - for he is the leader of a mercenary company, not an assassins' or thieves' guild. There is an item perfectly made for him in the Magic Item Compendium (bracers methinks) which allow the throwing of (illusionary?) daggers too, so that might be a start. |

Okay, good to know. Do note that a straight swashbuckler would fill all the demands he would have - for he is the leader of a mercenary company, not an assassins' or thieves' guild. True, true. There is an item perfectly made for him in the Magic Item Compendium (bracers methinks) which allow the throwing of (illusionary?) daggers too, so that might be a start. MIC! I got that a little while back. :w00t: Thanks a bunch so far, folks. :) |
| Wizardman07-18-07, 06:38 AM | Swashbuckler/Rogue seems to fit him more than a straight fighter build, flavour-wise. I agree that he probably has some rogue levels, as swashbuckler isn't quite versatile enough to handle some of the things that he can do. |
| Mad Mage07-18-07, 02:07 PM | Okay, how about the other question I posted in this thread. In addition, are there stats anywhere for a diatryma? You know, that thing which Jarlaxle has a feather of in his hat that - as shown in at least one novel - can summon said creature to help him? :help: |

I am not familiar with the latest novels, so what "exactly" does he do that does not fit with a swashbuckler utilizing Two Weapon Fighting, Quick Draw and that bracer on each wrist? |
| captaincarot07-19-07, 11:47 AM | What source book is swashbuckler in? because it's where i woud like to go with one of my theives. |
| Zanan07-19-07, 03:28 PM | What source book is swashbuckler in? because it's where i woud like to go with one of my theives. Complete Warrior - a fighter class going for agility and precision, getting more skill points and class skills. Nigh perfect for drow warriors. |
