| Spartanmax0903-25-07, 05:17 PM | What is a good race that gives you good + to stats but does not have a ridiculous level adjustment? |
| Dark Wizard03-25-07, 10:58 PM | It depends on what you think is a good bonus to stats and what is a ridiculous level adjustment. Most races with no level adjustment only give bonuses to one stat with a penalty to another so you can't get something (bonus) for nothing (low LA). |
| Lord Karsus03-26-07, 12:28 AM | -Sun Elves are where it's at...Yo. |
| redmagefish03-26-07, 07:27 PM | ------ look at my guy |
| Khaelieth03-27-07, 07:36 PM | -Sun Elves are where it's at...Yo. Seconded! Who need constitution when you can flatten a mountain with a flick of the wrist!? |
| Diffan04-01-07, 02:45 AM | Aasimars give you +2 to Wis and Cha and you get to use Daylight 1/day plus +2 to listen and spot for only a +1 adjustment. Also, in Races of Faerun you can get wings at 6th level. |
| The_Shaman04-01-07, 08:44 AM | Consider the half-fey, they make excellent bards. The +2 LA is a bit high, but for their abilities it's imo a good bargain. |
| bloodtalon04-04-07, 09:42 AM | for the half-fey you forgot to add the base race be a half-fey/ with a base race of a dwarf bonus against spells all the attack bonus to goblins ect. |
| Critalondel04-04-07, 10:05 AM | Yeah, and I'm sure the Realms are just crawling with Half-Fey Dwarves, huh? |
| fierceone904-04-07, 11:36 AM | Hey can anyone give me a general physical description of "star elves"? They are vaguely mentioned in the source material that I've looked at. I'm interested in creating a star elf character. |
| bloodtalon04-04-07, 04:14 PM | i was going for a joke witht he half-fey/dwarf most people to me would think either half-fey/elf or half-fey/human guess it was not funny |
| The_Shaman04-05-07, 11:19 AM | Half-fey (forest) gnomes could be quite good, although the slower movement speed means slower flight as well. It's still quite good if you're not missing strength too much - and half-fey don't make such great fighters anyway. Now, half-fey half-orc... that could be weird. |
| SwordofShar04-19-07, 07:00 PM | What is a good race that gives you good + to stats but does not have a ridiculous level adjustment? The tiefling is always fun, with a bonus to INT & DEX and darkvision (for underdark adventuring) not to mention spell-like ability (1/day) darkness, and a bonus to Bluff & Hide +2, this make a pretty crafty rogue. However you'll have to put up with the CHA penalty, which can be compensated with the added skill points from the increased INT. But the DEX will help your Reflexes, Initiative, AC, Stealth skills, and ranged attacks. |
| Joggernutt04-24-07, 07:59 PM | Catfolk from the races of wild has a +4 dex and +2 cha with only a +1 lvl adjustment and u also get natural armor class of +1 in addition and also u get scent. |
| Khaelieth04-26-07, 08:16 PM | Half-giants are ridiculous too, which they in? |
| Longstrider2304-26-07, 10:23 PM | Half-giants are ridiculous too, which they in? Check one of the Psionics handbooks; I'm too lazy to check, but I think that it's only a +1 or 2 LA. |
| Chosen of Bane04-26-07, 11:08 PM | I've always loved how Half-Giants (expanded psionics handbook) are medium but Half-Ogres (races of destiny) are large??? |
| Burningspear04-26-07, 11:17 PM | I've always loved how Half-Giants (expanded psionics handbook) are medium but Half-Ogres (races of destiny) are large??? aha, seems like it should have been the other way round, lol |
| MarkusTay6304-26-07, 11:25 PM | If you can handle a +8 LA, Saruhks the way to go - +12 Str, +4 Dex, +10 Con, +20 Int, +8 Wis, +8 Cha Who needs levels with all that? :D Plus you can physically mutate ANYTHING with scales, aside from a Dragon or a Fish. |
| Burningspear04-26-07, 11:28 PM | If you can handle a +8 LA, Saruhks the way to go - +12 Str, +4 Dex, +10 Con, +20 Int, +8 Wis, +8 Cha Who needs levels with all that? :D Plus you can physically mutate ANYTHING with scales, aside from a Dragon or a Fish. Isn't that a bit montyhaul-overboard on stats? for ?only? 8 levels? or am i getting that bit wrong? :tie: |
| MarkusTay6304-27-07, 01:02 AM | Isn't that a bit montyhaul-overboard on stats? for ?only? 8 levels? or am i getting that bit wrong? :tie:AND you're forgetting they're ability to do ANYTHING to a reptile... add body parts, or stat increases, or special abilities... no holds barred. That is why the Saruhk rules are considered the most broken rules EVA! True, you need to start out at lev 9, but how many lev 9 char's you know can have a 38 Int? :D AND still beat you in an arm-wrestle! |
| GothicDan04-27-07, 04:50 AM | You also have to add their HD to their LA, since their not of the humanoid type. Also, this is why they were one of the CREATOR races. |
| Empirate04-30-07, 11:09 AM | Yeah, IIRC Sarrukhs have about 16 racial HD, making them very hard to fit into any campaign with a further +8 LA... Imagine playing a 1st level Whatever with an ELA of 25! Of course, a Sarrukh without class levels can easily be taken out by a 15th level character regardless of class(es), but that's a different story. Which, btw, and only because I always mention this at this point, is the reason why racial HD counted as full character levels make absolutely no sense whatsoever! |
