A player asked if it's possible to create a Copper elf Ranger of Rillifane Rallathil and have them become a divine disciple, or if that PrC is just for Clerics or Druids. I don't have my books with me, but I told her that it could be done from what I remember of the PrC. All you need do is be able to cast 4'th level divine spells right? In that case a 14'th level Ranger could indeed become a DD correct?

Thanks! ;)

Just curious, why would a player want to do this? From a class combo perspective.

- access to 1 kind of Domain Spells (but no extra spell slots)
- imbue with spell ability (well ok i try to point out the good things in that class)
- transcendence (60ft darkvision, natural outsider w homeplane toril)

by the way a really nice roleplaying class

"Among the disciples of any religion are a rare few individuals whose devotion to their deity goes far above and beyond the norm"

from a class combo perspective - uhm ...high fort and will saves... ^^

just make sure you take the DD from the Player's Guide to Faerun, thats the 3.5 Version ^^

aaand by the way - think about those knowledge religion ranks .... ranger with 8 ranks in kr is kind of spooky though ^^

Divine Disciple requires 5 ranks in Diplomacy and 8 ranks in Knowledge (religion), and access to 4th lvl divine spells.

If you take the Mystic Ranger variant from Dragon Magazine #336, you can easily take this prestige class by 8th lvl. The Mystic Ranger already has a spiritual bent, and grants access to 0-5th lvl spells, and really fits well into a druidic or nature-worshiping religion.

Scratch that, neither diplomacy or knowledge (religion) are on the ranger's class skill list, so you need to be at least 16th lvl, because you can never have more than half your class level in ranks in a cross-class skill.

Take a level of cleric or two. That way your max ranks are as if it was a class skill, and DD will advance a better type of spellcasting.

I think it's a fairly common house rule in FR that all divine casters get Kno: religion as a class skill because divine casters in FR are required to have a patron diety.
