Ok, I'm thinking of going into this class with my Necromancer (hey it's a fun class to play if only a wee bit underpowered, it's still a wizard). Now I've dropped evocation and enchantment, my question is what school do I drop next (Because of Enhanced School Specalization, which makes you prohibit another school), You can still prepare and cast spells you've already learned from the school you drop. You can make it into the red wizard PrC at level five.

SO my question is, what school of magic develops best under level 5 (other than enchantment and evocation) that I should bare next. Hope this wasnt to complecated.

thank you in advance.

It's not a matter of which school has the most useful spells below level 4. You need the school which doesn't offer the best spells above level 3.

There is only one option: Illusion. The others are just too useful.

Ya that's what I thought too, but then I lose any chance of ever getting contengency. Or any evocation spell.

Why would you loose Contingency if you get rid of Illusion?

Besides, you already did loose Evocation. And you can take the feat Craft Contingent Spell as a substitute.

As for the blasting spells, the Conjuration school has several damage dealing ones that work quite well.

Shadow Evocation...

I'll look into the craft contiengency, and then i'll know what I can do.

Then I think Transmutation is the only one you could drop.

Thats what I thought, My only hesitation would be losing time stop, but dropping any school is gona lose me one signiture spell. Oh well. So transmutation, or illusion, tough desicion.

Transmutation? Are you nuts? That's the single best school there is. You can do everything with it: Buffing, dealing damage, protecting yourself and others, battlefield control, etc.

Well, it's the most versatile school. You can get Rary's Mnemonic Enhancer on level 4, Telekinesis, Overland Flight, Fabricate and both Transmute... spells on Level 5 (not to speak of Improved Blink, one of the best defensive spells), Disintegrate on Level 6, Reverse Gravity on Level 7, Polymorph any Object on Level 8, and Etherealness, Time Stop and Shapechange on Level 9.

And these are only the core spells. If you have the Spell Compendium, your choices multiply.
