Ok so i was looking through the back of the Dragons of Faerun book to find dragons for my party to talk to and/or battle for my Year of Rogue Dragons campaign. I found the entry for "Garnet" (p 150 third down). Ok how in the Nine Hells can a dragon be both blue and red? Is he a biological hybrid? magical hybrid? It doesn't make any sense. Two dragons of different colors cannot biologically interbred in my opinion (I may be overlooking some ruling in a book, but that's how I'm playing)! Magical means I can understand, but it gets confusing when you start thinking about breath weapon, immunities, spell-like abilities.

So now onto game mechanics: does anyone know of the stats for this dragon or any other reference either in a novel, module, source book, etc?

Garnet was raised by the elf Saeval Ammath of Myth Drannor. He discovered a red dragon egg, altered it with magic and Garnetallisar was born - good aligned, with the characteristics of a red dragon but the appearance of a blue (or something like that). She disappeared during the Weeping War that preceded the Fall of Myth Drannor. Her fate remains a mystery. Intentionally so. No stats ever done. None ever likely to be done.

Garnet, the good red-hued dragon with a blue dragon's form from Myth Drannor, is still a plot thread hanging loose in the Weave.....but it's a plot thread I'd love to see put back on the loom and have more added, given the chance....

Additionally, a few extra tidbits from Steven Schend -

"HE is still alive, yes, but as to his whereabouts, no one knows. Or if they do, they're not talking for various reasons. (I briefly thought about making him one of the dragons in the Blackstaff ritual, but nixed the idea as too important to cameo without explanation or details (for which there was no room).) In other words, do with him what you will. Heck--he could be trying to assuage his guilt by helping to recreate what he helped destroy inadvertantly, and thus HE is the one trying to find the Highfire Crown and make new baneblades.

Personally, I think he's been busy far away from Faerun, as he's fled the scene of his shame and been occupied for a few centuries fighting and killing enemies of The People either south of Chult or far to the west (maybe even Maztica?). But that's one person's opinion."

It seems like you guys know a lot about his back story. Is there a book I can read about him?

What about placing him around Cormanthyr and the Moonsea to help a group out who are looking to stop the Dragon Rage?

See Cormanthyr and The Fall of Myth Drannor.

I don't know anything about this dragon in particular, but I have heard that there is a way to make a multi-hued dragon, by giving it the half-dragon template, if I'm not mistaken. I think there's something in Draconomicon about it, but I don't have it with me at the moment.

Garnet would be amazing to have in a super adventure.
