A new PC wants to join our new campaign and she wants to be a Copper elf Rogue/ Ranger of Erevan Ilesere, using the new feats and skill tricks from Complete Scoundrel. Now I've never played this combo and have never seen this combo played by another player, so I was wondering if I could have the opinions of everyone on the boards as to if you think this combo could work with the god of rogues.

1. Rangers are usually of a nature-minded disposition that follow a nature deity and not usually a rogue deity.

2. Would Erevan grant the ranger spells to this PC if this combo could work.

Thanks folks!

1. Rangers are usually of a nature-minded disposition that follow a nature deity and not usually a rogue deity.Rangers are also used as spies, so a rogue/ranger would be a stealthy character specialized in all kinds of terrains. Erevan likes mischiefs and jokes above all, so a good character that can make strife in the enemies of the seldarine in all kinds of terrain should be very valuable.

2. Would Erevan grant the ranger spells to this PC if this combo could work.Of course he would! Rangers are not limited to the list of nature deities althought they are the usual ones. I take this as a "if you play a standard ranger (i.e. what does say the PH) take one of these deities", but a character as described would be very pleased to serve Erevan Ilesere.

has the player considered being a scout? Its kind of a ranger/rogue combo, although the divine aspect of the ranger is not involved

Yes, I mentioned it to her being that I have Complete Adventurer as well, but she wants the ability to cast spells (albeit not many) but doesn't want to be a Cleric, cause my main PC is Curudin Ahmaquissar, a Rogue/ Cleric/ Divine Disciple of Erevan Ilesere and feels more than one cleric/rogue is redundant.

So, I cannot continue this campaign until she decides what classes she wants, and what we'll let her have, so more opinions are needed. ;)

I have no books with favored soul, so I doubt she'll buy the book for 1 or two PrC's. Do you know of any "ranger-like" PrC's with their own spell list and progression?

Holy Liberator perhaps, although it's not particularly inclined towards nature, it may make a good choice for a follower of the Fey Jester.

Complete Divine (a slightly older version originally appeared in the Miniatures Handbook).

what he said: its basically what the sorcerer is to the wizard, the favored soul is to cleric. No prep, the divine magic is innate
