08-14-07, 02:48 PM Hello i gonna play an Human Rogue/Monk with most lvl in Monk. What feat do you think is a must have and why? What does it do and where can i read more about it?

I only have PHB, DMG and Forgotten realms setting, going to get more books soon (complete scoundrel and one more).

My playstyle is: sneak in and kill the support dudes then wreak as much hawok as i can :) So dodge, mobility and spring attack is some feats i want.

Any good weapons to use? I l like the naginata (staff with a blade on one end). Magic items?

Any help is welcome

If you are going to attempt a Rogue/monk combo I would suggest Aestheic Monk from Complete adventurer as one of your first feats. This feat allows you to combine some of the abilites of a rogue with that of a monk.

There is a version of this in Player's guide to Eberron that allows one to freely mutlicalss between Rogue and monk, however depending what monk order you are going to belong to this may be unecassary.

I suggest looking at the various monastic orders in Forgotten realms to see which would fit you character, a number of the orders allow free multclassing between specific classes. These will also provide a good background for your character in the FR setting.

For instance, if you google 'Rogue Handbook' or 'Monk Handbook' you'll get the Char-Op's handbook blah blah blah very handy. Obviously, if you're multi-classing it will be harder to determine exactly what fits both classes but hey that's what it's all about.

The feat is called Ascetic Monk. You would probably find it anyway, I just thought you might want that clarification. I would, however, love to have a feat that makes my monk prettier.

08-18-07, 09:03 AM Ascetic rogue, iirc. The "ascetic" part indicates that it is monk-related. However, picking the right order eliminates the multiclassing problem, so it is mostly a matter for stacking unarmed damage - and that I would probably solve by looking for a PrC that advances most monk abilities and gives you some extra options for your rogue - ideally more SA dice, but possibly more options to make use of Sneak attack. Psionic Fist/elocater, for example - sneaking around becomes much more interesting when timespace is your, er, dog.

Speaking of which, I wonder if Scorn Earth would give you a bonus to move silently. After all, you can't rustle leaves or step on a branch when you're not stepping on the ground.
