Shadow Vampire [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-14-07, 07:35 AM I was wondering if there was such a thing. Something like a vampire made on the plane of shadows. I guess it would be something like a combination between a vampire and shade template.

09-14-07, 11:00 PM A couple years back my dm made a shade vampire for his homebrew campain. I forget his name, one tough cookie though:eek: I think he was a fighter/rogue. We never knew what hit us! He was a goon for the shade lich. Shadow adept. Boy that was fun times! Yeah a shade vampire would rock big time!:cool:

09-17-07, 07:06 AM Do you remember anything else about his. How did his character start out, a vampire first then became a shade as well or the other way around. Anthing would be helpful, Thanks.

09-17-07, 02:13 PM Well my dm has this thing about the Shades. It was a homebrew world so their were so shades scattered about. NO MONOLITHIC EVIL ORGINIZATION. Just a few one was a Shade wizard that became a lich. The Dark Lord I think that was his name. His henchman was a Shade fighter/rogue that was turned into a Vampire. I think the Lich killed the VAMPIRE LORD and made the other shade his assassin. Gave him alot more freedom to prowl and stalk.:eek: That was one tough sob.:plotting:

09-17-07, 07:43 PM I think that shade/vampire would work well on Faerun as well. A vampire is already stronger than a normal human but add the shade template where he would get even stronger in darkness. That would be cool but I don't know what other abilities the shade/vampire would have.

09-18-07, 01:06 AM Actually they are kinda suboptimal when put together. Flavorful but suboptimal. Overlapping abilites. Sure controling shadows are cool. Shadow walking is great. Gaseous form check. Children of the night check. ENERGY DRAIN CHECK:lightbulb . Damn that was one bad**s NPC. WOW.:smirk:

09-18-07, 07:18 AM Yeah a shade/vampire would be hard pressed to find a person that would give him a good match, esp the longer he has lived. I wonder what the stats for such a combination would be like?

09-19-07, 10:19 AM Flavourwise a vampire who dabbled in shadowweave magic could have transformed itself into a shadebeing. The control over shadows could make this a very interesting encounter. Shadow evocation lightning concealed with shadows. (think Obtenebration from World of Darkness's Vampire)
A shade being quasi-incorporeal could find difficulty in containing the blood required to power vampirism. Imagine a bloodleaking shadow, leaving a dark trail after it has fed.

Indeed, I play a Clan Mekhet / Khaibit bloodline vampire in a (thankfully) strictly pen & paper NWoD campaign & Obtenebration rules.
