Shadow Weaver, what to spec in? [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-15-07, 12:46 AM I really like the flavor and features of Shadow weave, especially since it goes against the grain of my groups normal playstyle. To improve it, id like to specialize in one of the 3 schools that SW covers, and maybe take tattoo focus to strengthen it more. My dilemma is which one of the 3 is best to spec in, and which schools to drop.

My group doesnt usually use SR, so id mostly take SW and tatto focus for the DC boost. Which of the 3 schools would benefit most from higher DCs? Im flipping through all the books i have and spell lists, but im having a time wrapping my head around it all still. Id like some expert opinions.

For schools to drop, i think evocation is definitely 1 of them, i just cant decide on the other.

09-15-07, 08:42 AM Illusion is very versatile, while Enchantment and Necromancy are rumored to be weak. All the schools benefit from higher DC's.

I'd drop evocation, too. As for the other, either Conjuration or Transmutation. I'd drop Conjuration, because you won't need additional creatures (you can summon undead). The battlefield controlling spells are nice, but you can do that with illusions.

Never give up Abjuration, though. It's just too useful.

Shadow Conjuration and Shadow Evocation are the best spells ever.

09-19-07, 10:00 PM Go with Illisionist, then kick evocation, and conjuration or enchantment (it's jsut hard to get rid of such a great class, and ah teleportation), go with shadow adept as soon as you can (5th lvl for just about everything that lvls up in wizard) go to around level 5 or 7 in the class, at lvl five you get the metamagic feat, then if you go beyound that go to seven because you get permanent darkvision, and Shadow Walk, if you into that sort of thing :D .

Now I know this is bad but can you take two different PrC classes? Cant remember, *pounds head on desk* If you can go with the prestige class from the Underdark's Guide, it's the Shadowcrafter, you should quilify by spealizing in Illusionist (You should be getting a Illusion Spell Focus by now). This really bumps up your Shadow Conjuration/Evocation if you stick with it, which really is pretty awesome. Not to menching you get alot of other goodies that I cant think of right know because Im not with my book. Also with all the bumps in Illusion spell DC your phantom killer willl do it to jsut about everybody.

Hope this helps, just a really fun to mismatch your different varients of wizard. And also hope it wasnt to confusing, trying get my ideas from paper from my head is proving more dificult than it appeared.
